Dr. Elana Celliers is a native of Cheshire, CT where she grew up since the age of five. She graduated from Cheshire High School and went on to graduate from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After working as a dental assistant for one year, Dr. Celliers attended dental school at the University of Connecticut where she received her doctorate. She just completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, and is excited to be working in her hometown. Through the course of her dental education and experience, Dr. Celliers has developed special interests within the field. She enjoys the artistic aspects associated with cosmetic dentistry, and has a particular interest with performing related procedures such as crown and bridge, and anterior veneers. Dr. Celliers enjoys her work with patients of all ages but has a special place in her heart for children. Her work with the YMCA Childcare programs as a teenager allowed Dr. Celliers to develop a strong ability to connect with children. This stemmed into her love for providing oral health education within elementary schools. In addition, Dr. Celliers continues to support and dedicate time to the Special Olympics where she provides dental screenings and oral health education to all athletes. Over the course of her career, Dr. Celliers has also been able to participate in programs, which help provide necessary dental care and education on oral health and prevention to those less fortunate. Her first experience was through Connecticut’s Mission of Mercy. This annual event allows local dentists to donate their time to residents who need dental care but cannot afford the coverage. In addition, Dr. Celliers has had the opportunity to travel to both Honduras and Jamaica where she also donated her time and services to those less fortunate. It is her hope to continue donating her time to provide dental care in similar communities both in the U.S. and other countries. In her free time, Dr. Celliers enjoys spending time outdoors, making pottery, taking Yoga and Zumba classes, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. Dr. Celliers recently became an aunt and is elated to be back in Connecticut where she can rejoin her home community and watch her family continue to grow.
