Biography

Dr Bijoy Methil Qualification M.B.B.S,M.S.,M.Ch,D.N.B. (Plastic Surgery) Fellowship in Microvascular surgery (Taiwan) Fellowship in Aesthetic surgery ( Australia) Completed education in India in 2004 from Baroda Medical college. Class topper in most disciplines during MBBS. Topped the Gujarat state entrance exam and the MS University in 2001 Initiatives during training : Initiated an NGO partnership with Jeevan Akshay trust & Satyam Shivam Sundaram trust which enabled the department to modernize & renovate the OT complex. Participated actively & coordinated with the Department of Architecture, M.S. University in the renovation of the department and helped in redesigning wards & OT complex. Coordinated with the Department of fine arts, M.S. University & covered the walls of our Paediatric ward with murals depicting common fables. Conceptualised, developed & Co-ordinated the first cleft family support group in Gujarat. Organised a multidisciplinary diagnostic camp for cleft patients. Developed a presentation for education of parents with cleft children. After completing the education in India, went to Taiwan to study at the “Chang Gung Memorial Hospital”, which is considered the world’s foremost centre for Microvascular surgery. After completing the fellowship from there, travelled to Singapore to the National University Hospital and Dr Ivor Lim for initial exposure in Aesthetic Surgery. Subsequently, was awarded the Fellowship in Aesthetic Surgery at the prestigious “St Vincents Hospital”, in Sydney, Australia where on completion in 2008 was designated the best fellow in the department in the last 5 years. Returned back to India in 2008 and joined Jaslok hospital. Professional Achievements and Awards Won an award for the quiz undertaken at the national conference of the Association of Plastic surgeons of India in 2002. Papers shortlisted for the best paper in the competitive section in two consecutive years 2002 & 2003 at the national conference of the Association of Plastic surgeons of India. Received the critics prize for best poster at the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India national conference in 2006 for Management of Lip in Oral Ca. Received designation of the best fellow in the Department of Plastic Surgery in the last 5 years at the St Vincents Hospital, Sydney. Received the Nargis Dutt Memorial foundation award as a Travelling fellowship to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer centre, New York in Sep 2009. Received the Kilner Prize for the best original scientific work at the 50th Annual meeting of the Association of Plastic surgeons of India in 2014. Invited as speaker and faculty at multiple state and national events. Present Position Consultant Plastic, Cosmetic and Microvascular surgeon Associated with Jaslok, Saifee, Hinduja, Prince Aly Khan and Breach Candy Hospitals in Mumbai. Director : The Skin and Shape Clinic, Mumbai Special Interest: Head, Neck & Breast reconstruction, Cosmetic Surgery Currently, Well recognized and one of the sought after plastic surgeons in the city of Mumbai. Social Contributions Attached to the Vimla Hospital of Leprosy, Yari Road, Andheri W for charitable work. Contribute to the orphanage at the hospital, looking after 60 girls. Regularly operate patients in the ‘Indigent’ category for free of cost in corporate hospitals Currently involved in developing innovative appliances for use by numerous patients, for improving Quality of Life after Head and Neck reconstructive surgery. Currently involved in developing a protocol for Quality of life review of Head and Neck cancer patients for faster recovery and better outcomes. Currently involved in the Core committee member of the IAAPS to improve and enhance Aesthetic surgery in India Hobbies Bibliophile : Amateur technophile : All things tech Linguist : Speak 5 languages fluently, always looking to learn more. Biker: Have done Himalayan Biking expeditions including Khardungla pass. Trekker: Avid Trekker, Climbed most peaks in Maharashtra, also done Himalayan Treks.
