Ratings for Dr. Michelle Lamarre
Dr. Lamarre is intelligent and efficient. She does have a somewhat no-nonsense disposition that from some of these other comments some interpret as being uncaring or unkind. In my experience the very opposite was true. She did her best to actually address my issues instead of giving me a prescription i may or may not need and then running off as so many other Doctors seem to do.
Never have I been treated as poorly as when I saw Dr. Michelle Lamarre. She was accusatory and judgemental towards me, and her questions were invasive and unrelating to my reasons for visiting. I was shocked at how unprofessional she was, and will be gog to the
I am grateful that Dr. Lamarre did not simply renew my sleeping medication. She asked a few questions and thanks to her, I am now treated for the cause of my sleeping problems, which i know now is sleep apnea. Now i wake up refreshed and have energy and to top it off I have been able to lose 20 lbs
This doctor is a joke! I was at a walk in clinic to have my prescription refilled! After asking her for a refill she turned and asked in her blunt tone" you have a family physician go see her" I then stated that I have an appointment but it's not for a few months! I then began to explain why I take a sleeping aid and how and when it affects me, also that I don't take it every night! She looked at me and said ...your big, did you not know big people tend to have sleep apnea!! I said I was told so but have never really looked in to it! She then looked at me and said " are you on birth control " ( has nothing to do wh why I am there) she then said well why not" I said politely that I'm married and we are trying to have children and frankly it's none of her business! She than gave me the script and said she never wants to see me there for that again! She is rude, has no bed side manners, the women doesn't Care about anyone! Never again will I attend the clinic in the superstore! She has ruined it for me :(
A few corrections are in order to the comment posted July 28, 2015. The remarks pertain to the Sexual Health Clinic of the Sudbury and District Health Unit rather than to Dr. Lamarre herself. The Clinic does offer privacy with a curtain in every exam room . No gowns are offered as they are not necessary. Patients are given disposable vests if a breast exam is to be performed and a disposable sheet to cover the bottom. Disposable material is used to contain costs. Breast exams are no longer used as a screening procedure as they have been proven in studies not to contribute to a reduction in mortality from breast cancer. A breast exam will be done if there is a concern voiced by the patient. A very large number of women will have a small amount of blood spotting after a Pap. A minimal number will have a larger amount of bleeding, often because the cervix is inflamed to start with. It is true that OHIP funds a Pap every 3 years if normal but will pay for whatever repeat Paps are recommended by the pathologist. There are no restrictions in performing a pelvic exam without a Pap if clinically relevant. Dr Lamarre is assisted in her work by a trained clinic assistant or nurse. The bulk of the work at the Sexual Health Clinic is actually performed by nurses. The Sexual Health Clinic is not a specialized gynecological clinic. It offers services for sexually transmitted diseases and screening Paps for those without a family physician as part of a public health mandate
Had a pap test done at the specialized sexual health clinic downtown. Dr. Lamarre provided no privacy or gown to wear during the procedure. She was not gentle with the clamp and I had some bleeding. She also had the receptionist assist, and communicated very little with me. She also did not take the time to examine my breasts. Since we only get OHIP funding for a physical every 3 years, I was very disappointed that she was not more comprehensive. I am a nursing student but did not divulge this to her, and I will not go see her again. Extremely unprofessional. Very disappointed in the level of care offered in what is supposed to be a specialized clinic in a very low-income area.
I have used this doctor on a number of occasions for family medicine matters - most minor but in one case very serious. I have always found her accessible. She is very efficient and insightful in her investigations. She is clearly knowledgeable and her diagnosis has been accurate in each case and the results always good. I have the greatest possible confidence in this doctor.
