Ratings for Dr. Aggie Matusik, ND
Dr. Matusik is thorough, intellectually curious and well-informed. She works with you to get a thorough history, ensures all necessary tests have been run if you are also working with your MD, and tenaciously pursues the root cause of the issue.
Dr. Aggie knows her stuff! Whomever the person is that wrote a poor rating on Jan 20th 2018 is out to lunch or has some seriously high demands that absolutely no one could ever please. This person's review could not be further from the truth. Dr. Aggie is kind, thorough and always goes over and beyond.
Dr. Matusik, might be a great doctor for some, but she did not help me at all. I went to her because I was sick of the treatment I got from student naturopaths. She misdiagnosed me with POTS, she prescribed me pointless supplements. She refused an adrenal saliva cortisol test, said, yes I have adrenal fatigue for sure. But I wanted to know the levels, and after several months she finally did it. She prescribed me florinef, a steroid medication which, when I told her that it hurt my veins, she told me to continue with it because it "would make me feel better.” My adrenal results were not even that low in the morning to be putting something synthetic in my body. She once took 3 weeks to email me back because she had to “look something up”. She took so long for me to get labs done. She simply had too many patients, and appointments took up to 3 weeks. She told me straight up it's really rare to have Lyme disease, and she told me to just eat seaweed and sauerkraut, kefir, and an adrenal supplement that made me bleed without testing for the ROOT CAUSE. She wanted to"treat for symptoms” first. I learned more online in many Facebook groups than seeing her. She wanted me to treat with food and supplements, even after telling me the student naturopaths did not treat me “hard enough". I asked her about leaky gut, sibo, and she said “you MOST LIKELY have a leaky gut.” without even testing for it. I even asked her about Iodine, and she dismissed it. She prescribed me to eat eggs when I had a food intolerance to them, and also just told me to read a book called GAPS. It is very hard for a patient to read a full book when they are sick. She did not believe Lyme was in the lower mainland. I told her i had a Lyme positive Elisa and she ignored it. She simply emailed me the name of a lyme doctor with no clear instructions. Her treatments wasted me months until I finally moved on to two other naturopath who were more knowledgeable. I was really sick for a whole year, I depended on her, because her appointments were cheaper than other clinics, and I did not get the care that I deserved from her. She may be a great naturopath to some, but she did not have much use for me. I was very, very sick, and her treatments did NOT help me. I would not recommend her. Obviously doctors make mistakes and are not perfect. I feel she really, really let me down, and gave me excuses for being “too busy”. Maybe a factor to play into this is that I booked an initial 60 min consultation, but only booked 10-30 minute follow ups after, because I wanted to save money, but I still think I should have deserved better treatment. Obviously it is my responsibility for my own health, and my decision to see her cost me a lot of time. I regret seeing her, and I wasted a lot of time and money. I wish I had spent it elsewhere.

Thank you for leaving a review, I would like to comment on a couple of points. I did not diagnose POTS, I had a clinical suspicion of POTS and contacted the only specialized clinic in Canada (Alberta) for a name of a specialist in BC that could do an assessment for POTS. Once I gave you the specialist's contact, you were able to get a referral from your MD and that cardiologist prescribed Florinef. I supported the specialist decision that you try the medication to see if you would feel better. Due to financial constraints, I tried to prioritize testing that would be clinically useful and also worked with your MD to get tests ordered. Yes I have seen enough "leaky gut" in my years of practice, that I do not need to test every patient to confirm. In terms of Lyme, the testing you had done was not positive for infection, otherwise the MD that tested you would have provided treatment, I did however suggest more detailed testing for Lyme and co-infections and you did not attend the appointment for a blood draw which we attempted to re-schedule with you several times. I did not say Lyme is non-existent, I simply said I do not see Lyme patients in my practice and provided you with a name and contact of a physician we would need to involve in your care. I am very glad to hear you have found 2 physicians that are now helping you regain your health. You deserve your health and happiness and I wish you all the best.

A few short months ago I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and was told I will need to go on medication. I'm not one for taking medication unless absolutely necessary. I asked my family doctor if I can hold off on taking the medication for a couple of month sand would work on getting my pressure under control. She agreed and said I should monitor my pressure. After seeing my family doctor, I went to see Dr. Matusik. I had been to see her a couple of years earlier when I was dealing with a different medical challenge and her guidance was a big help. So naturally, with this latest diagnosis, I returned to her for further guidance. She asked all the appropriated questions, reviewed my past and recent bloodwork and recommended some supplements and foods I could try. I followed her recommendations and 3 months later, my blood pressure was back to the normal range. She recommended additional bloodwork to ensure my kidney function was back to normal (which was affected by the high blood pressure) and it too was back to normal. It is reassuring to know that there is a caring and knowledgeable alternative health care professional I can turn to for guidance when dealing with health issues. Thanks Dr. M for your guidance, recommendations and genuine care.
I initially came to see Dr Matusik about a year and half ago for myself as I was struggling with digestive issues, hormonal problems and allergies. I was also pregnant with my third child and extreme morning sickness. Within a few months I started to feel better and was even able to get off a prescription medication for acid reflux and treat my morning sickness naturally. Then... I recieve the devastating news that my 5 year old son is diagnosed with Autism. Words cannot even describe how blessed I was to have her there as a support and to show me the compassion I needed in order go through that extremely difficult time. I was also surprised to hear that Dr Matusik could offer my son Bio-medical treatments for Autism which we started in May 2016. I appreciate how she is researched based and likes to look at the "numbers" when treating her patients. She also recommended a wonderful developmental Pediatrician who could follow my son and who was also supportive of the Biomedical treatments we were trying for my son. 8 months into his treatment I can't believe the difference I see in my son! For the first time I actually feel like I'm getting my son back and this would not have been possible if our paths did not cross. Thank you - Dr Matusik from the bottom of my heart for always going above and beyond!
Within 2 months I spent about $2000 on $130 initial visit, supplements, IV treatments and tests and I’ve not gotten better, but actually worse after the diet changes. She willingly gave answers but they didn’t help me. Staff helpful & friendly but pushed a lot of supplements.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! How awful that you have not achieved results with all that time and money spent! Normally I check in with patients every time I see them or by email check-ins to ensure that they are improving with their condition and make changes as needed to ensure they are. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to schedule a complementary visit to determine why this was not addressed sooner. Also I would like to refund any supplements you might have purchased at the clinic as I do not recommend products unless I am sure the patient will benefit from taking them. My only objective is to help my patients achieve their health goals and address their health concerns.

I am so blessed to have found Aggie. I felt I was on deaths for and within a week felt alive again. I was on synth you'd for years and just felt awful but was really getting bad so I went to Aggie. Thanks to her I found out my root issue through blood tests and proper diet and meds. I cannot get over how much better I felt in a week. Have not felt this well in years. She is very helpful, caring, extremely knowledgeable, and really shows she has your best interest at heart. I highly recommend her. Kate
I am so fortunate I found Dr. Matusik, with her care over the last year I have been able to take care of my health problems mainly related to my anxity and depression which were causing other physical problems in my body. She suggested diet changes, supplements and I did some vitamin infusions which really helped my energy. It took a while but I feel I am in a different place and feel so much better under her care. SHe easily conversed with my doctor who did some blood work so I could save money. We switched my vitamins which were poor quality to others some from her clinic others from health store and I noticed a difference in my mood. She is just great and so caring. I don't think you can find a more caring person. I still see her now just to check in even though I feel better I want to stay healthy.
