Ratings for Dr. Michel Piers Rathbone
I was extremely impressed with Dr.Rathbone.He is very easy to talk to,and talks in layman's terms. I was seeing him because my Dr. thought I may have Parkinson's. After a very though exam he determined that I do not have Parkinson's. I have beingn essential tremor, and it can be treated. He answered all of my questions very patiently. Listen very carefully even when I would interrupt. I am very happy with Dr. Rathbone.zAnd I am very happy that he was recommended to me.
He has been mindful of my time, only slightly delayed in appointment time. I had only waited for about 10-15 mins. Not long at all.. Very knowledgeable, insures i understand, and if I ask him to repeat information or explain it more he always does without making me feel bad or like im stupid for asking such a silly question. I love that he uses proper the terminology but then tells me what it means, so i dont feel like im out of the loop with my own health. I feel i am in good hands here. I have recommended him to people and will continue to do so. He is a kind man that knows what he is talking about.
I have seen Dr. Rathbone twice now. First for an EMG, and yesterday for a followup. I have read all the poor reviews he has received and had to post my opinion of him. Both times he was very kind and took his time. He was thorough, and is pursuing other appointments for me to try and figure out the reason for my symptoms. I have found him to be one of the nicest doctors I have ever met. His assistants at the hospital and at his office were both professional and kind as well. He is not on time necessarily, but that is because he won't rush you. I highly recommend him.
If you have post concussion syndrome do not waste your time seeing him. It was a terrible experience that left me to have a emotional breakdown in his office. He questioned why I would commute which had nothing to do with why I was there. He prescribed me with a pill for headaches that had some very serious side effects. My doctor was not happy with the report and was apologetic for sending me there.
I just had my first session with the Dr and his assistant . A very, very positive visit. Despite the late hour and the obvious fatigue that they were feeling both individuals took the time to fully explain what was going on and exactly what my treatment plan would be. I moved to Hamilton last April and have had to see several doctors. This visit with Dr Rathbone and his assistant was the first such visit that left me feeling confident and positive about my medical issues. I felt really, really optimistic about my future after this visit with this medical team. They made me feel that I mattered and wasn’t just one more nameless patient. I would especially like to thank the Physicians assistant. Her examination was very professionally done and she took the time to explain everything to me. This is one heck of a good medical team. This is the first time an Ontario medical team has left me feeling optimistic about their plans for my treatment. I would also like to complement the lady who worked in the Dr’s office and performed the administrative portion of my visit. Once again despite being obviously tired she was very professional and actually took the time to treat me like a person and not just one more patient. The Dr, his Physicians Assistant and his receptionist were all “top notch”. A great team doing a tough job. I am actually looking forward to seeing the three of them on my next visit. I strongly recommend them to anyone needing some quality medical care. Thanks Mr. L. Baspaly
I have seen Dr. Rathbone twice with post-concussive syndrome. It took a few months to get in to see him. The first time I saw him he was running behind but he listened to what I had to say, ordered tests and medication (which I did not want to take due to long list of scary side effects). A few months later I had the worst headache/intracranial pressure I have ever experienced before and it was unbearable. I called their office and the receptionist refused to book me an appointment because I still had one test pending (4 months away!) and I wasn't supposed to be seen until then. When I finally saw him over a year later from my first visit, he was running 2.5 hours behind (to be fair there was an urgent case that took some time and set his schedule back). No one called to tell me this and it was very difficult to wait that long with the symptoms I was having. When I finally got in to see him, he didn't ask any questions and basically dictated the results of the tests that were ordered. I could tell he was tired and just trying to catch up. Dr. Rathbone said I could now be discharged from his care, even though I was still having chronic headaches, migraines, nerve damage, and the list goes on. Dr. Rathbone is a nice man but I found very little help from him. I would suggest going to see someone who takes the appropriate time and unfortunately, he is just too busy.
A complete waste of my time. Will only help you if it's as easy as prescribing a medication, and won't run tests or look further into what the problem may be. The staff asks somewhat personal questions and leaves the door wide open for all to hear. I didn't realize it till I was sitting in the waiting room and I could hear every question asked, as well as the patients response. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you want a neurologist who is actually willing to solve your issue.
My wife met with Dr Rathbone today. It has been a long stressful struggle as her undiagnosed illness cripples her. Dr. Rathbone was pleasant while he and his team spent considerable time with us. From the office secretary who helped my wife into their office, to the helpful Intern and Resident the meeting gave us the feeling that the all care. I know we have a long way to go and a great deal of worry, but We feel confident that my wife is in good hands. A great deal of thanks to Dr. Monica Di Benedetti for (Family Physician) for never giving up.
