Ratings for Dr. Elizabeth Kaback
Wow. This Dr. is the worst I have ever experienced. My experiences are consistent with what others have posted about this Dr. I was referred to her for an atrial fibrillation condition. I saw her twice - the first time I found her rude, condescending, and apathetic. She'd ask me questions and then tell me my answers made no sense or were ridiculous. She wanted me to wear a heart monitor. I had a choice - one required a one month commitment (more real-time), the other two weeks (more convenient). When I asked what she would recommend as she stared at her computer waiting for my answer, her comment was "I don't care. Just pick one." I felt like I was ordering fast food. And the visit didn’t get any better – I felt that she didn’t want to be there. All I wanted to do was get out of that office vowing never to return to this doctor. My wife talked me into going back the second time to get the results of the heart test. I didn’t think it could be worse, but it was. Didn’t ask how things how things were going, blasted through blood test results that she had forgotten that she had given me a month earlier, and didn’t listen or follow up on what I asked her about. When I asked her about the overall results from the heart monitor, which she had barely touched on, her comment to me as she stared at a computer screen pounding on keys was “Am I obtuse? I just told you the results of the test!” No, you’re not obtuse, you’re rude and lacking in any bedside manners. My blood pressure went through the roof after that comment. Done. Never again will I see this physician. I am shocked that Scripps keeps an employee like this at their facility.
I'm amazed at some of the comments here. Some people actually saw this Dr more than once. One time for me was all I needed to decide I would never see her again. Condescending, curt, rude, full of BS, are some of the adjectives I can think of. She told me my blood pressure was too high. I told her because she was being rude and short with me and my blood pressure doesn't like that. I have been controlling my blood pressure for 20 years until I come across a person like her, then it shoots up to the sky. She told me I needed to loose weight as she sat across the desk from me with at least 25 extra pounds on herself. When I asked her how WE were both going to do that she became livid with me...lol..Couldn't resist. Scripps has an impeccable reputation and I can't help but wonder why they hired or keep her?
I have a heart disease that is rarely diagnosed. I am in the hospital for IV Nitro in ICU. I have had great success with this and it breaks the pain cycle and I have 2-3 good months. This stay has been one of the worst stays hat this hospital that I have ever had. She doesn't believe that IV nitro can possibly work and give me 2-3 months of some what of a quality of life. Prior to this treatment I spent about 90% of time either in bed or on the couch. She is extremely rude. She didn't want to hear anything about my previous ICU visits. She asked me what my goal was with this stay. I told her to increase the nitro until I am completely out of pain leve me at the level for 8-12 hours and slowly take me off of it. I also asked her to please look at my last two visits and and emulate them. She would not do that and has been extremely condescending and rude the entire time. She said that she doesn't believe it is all my heart. Which I know and my cardiolofists at Cedar-Sinai know. She had completely changed the orders and stopped the increases in my IV Nitro on Tuesday early afternoon left me at that level until Wednesday night after a meeting that my husband and I had with her. She has pretty much gone over how well the nitro will work. Now she wants to run tests because she believes some of this is not my heart. I do not recommend her at all. I have requested a second opinion with one of the doctors that did this successfully before. I need to know now we move forward from here safely.
I agree with most negative comments about this doctor. I'm not overweight so that wasn't an issue, but she sure did make me feel stupid. She is harsh, condescending, and just not a pleasant person in general. I thought maybe the first time I saw her she was just having a bad day, but every visit is the same.
Kind not even. Maybe the first few visits. All the mean things listed below are very true! RUDE and laughs at you when you try to explain how you feel or what your going through. And she only has one track for everyone. Same one every time and she says you are overweight. We need an management to go in under cover to see the real her.
I must agree with most of the other posters. This doctor is horrible. I walked out of that office so depressed and I am thin and in great shape. I can just imagine what she does to someone a little overweight. She does NOT listen to you. She makes you feel stupid. She has an ugly temperament. I am just shaking my head here in disbelief how a doctor with 0 compassion can even be working at Scripps. I gave her 5 chances. Shame on Scripps for hiring her.
I thought she was outstanding. Very direct and to the point. If you don't want to learn and be told the truth in a direct and professional way, she is not for you. If you want thoroughness, understanding, treatment of the whole person physically and mentally, and thinking outside the box and not just following normal preconceived ideas, then you'll like her. Most cardiologists when dealing with cholesterol, immediately go to "statins". Her approach was to try various things to bring down the numbers. I rate her five stars in all regards. I never had such a thorough exam/questions about my health from any healthcare provider.
Can't believe some of these reviews. Did I go to the same doctor? Dr. Kaback spent two and one half hours with me on my first visit reviewing my medical history, family history, lifestyle etc., took my BP and setup a series of follow up tests. Could not have been more pleasant. Great "bedside manner" and yes a little East coast culture is a part of her personality, but in no way did I ever feel I was being talked down to. I was referred to her by my older brother who had gone to her 5 years ago. He firmly believes she saved his life.
