Ratings for Dr. Aanand Shah
Do not recommend. He makes a good first impression, but soon reveals himself to be presumptuous, judgemental and he even seems to be a bit vindictive. Hard to nail down, but he left both my wife and me with a very uneasy feeling. He'd recommended a course of treatment and medication for me that was entirely off the mark; there was nothing medically wrong with me, I was just experiencing some job-related stress and wasn't getting enough sleep. But, because I am a veteran, he immediately concluded it was a case of PTSD! He subsequently made a note to my file that I'd missed an appointment, which is incorrect and is why I suspect he has a vindictive streak. As a calendar-driven professional, I don't miss appointments - ever - and I am unafraid to challenge a doctor, especially one who presumes. There are much better doctors out there!
This is the worst doctor I have ever been to. He is rude, appears unknowledgeable, and spent very little time with me. I sought a second opinion after seeing him, and I only had a minor issue. A person that very badly needs to see a doctor would not be well-served by this doctor, based on my experience with him.
This dr. needs to go back to school, and learn how to be a good dr. The staff at the front, are a joke!! They hire people who haven't a clue of manners. My first time there, the receptionist was saying how FXXXING hot it was outside. I couldn't believe my ears!!! NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL! I will never go back there!!!! I go there with a cold and Dr Shah decides on his own to send me to an ENT Doesn't tell me, or discuss it with me even. I get a call from the receptionist, and she says she ma an appt. I said,,,,,NO,,,I don't need an appt. Then yesterday (3 months later) I get this call from the U of A hospital saying I have an appt. next Thursday at a specialist. I called and cancelled it. The receptionist obviously never cancelled it previous. Then the last appt. the DR. prescribed me PENICILLIN, AS I HAD A COLD. I have a severe allergy to penicillin. I stop breathing when if I was to take it. The clerk at Shoppers Drug caught this mistake, as it is on my file. I've been to the clinic 3 times, and TODAY the receptionist said to me. "Oh well the DR made the mistake because we were just putting the Penicillin alert on your chart, and he never had it. It should be on a chart the 1 st day the patient comes to the clinic. Don't go to this clinic. The Dr is a waste of time.
Always rude, curt, grouchy. He's my "family" doctor, got him when i moved to edmonton because he was the only one taking new patients. I've seen him over a dozen times in the last four years, i've never once seen him crack a smile or say hello, or make the slightest attempt at being human. Guy is a complete dick, seems like he hates his job.
I have always had excellent experiences with him. I have been a patient of his for 4 years, and he has always been thorough, patient, and informative with me. He listens as I explain my symptoms, schedules the appropriate testing, the office calls for follow-up if results are unusual, he will explain things to me for as long as I would like, and overall I find the service excellent. He appears very knowledgeable to me. He has made numerous referrals for me, and they are always completed in a speedy manner. In fact, his office will even call me with results from the tests that specialists sent me for. I have been nothing but pleased with his service. And, I think he dresses very attractively; it's like eye candy for me every time I go to the doctor - I love it!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DR AND CLINIC AT ALL. First of all, I went in the clinic and all the Filipinos are just chatting on their own language and did not bother to offer help. That's very unprofessional. They aren't there to chat and people coming in the clinic are either in pain or sick. Secondly, the DR is the WORST ever that I have encountered. He made me feel that my case is something that doesn't need attention. I am in pain cause of my swollen knees and can't barely walk. He saw me holding onto the walls just to get out of the clinic but he had never assisted me. He kept going out of the room and then cae bck twice just to give the prescription. He left without explaining what could have caused this so When I managed to get out of the room I looked for him cause he did not give me an explanation. When I found him, he said "I have no idea". Very disappointing for a DR who went to school for so many years, have studied so much medical books and yet give an answer such as that. He's a perfect example of a DR who works for the money but not because they are concerned with the patients.
