I am a 25 year old female. Since an injury at 13 I have had on and off chronic back pain, so I’m no stranger to discomfort or pain. Yet, in May I woke up suddenly to Strange and intense nerve pain up my left shoulder/armpit. I saw a physiotherapist and my old chiropractor as well as my doctor. None of them could help me and most were mystified. My doctor prescribed me a powerful nerve blocker which I refused to use as I had read some scary things about it. Slowly the nerve pain in my armpit progresses to extreme stiffness and pain in my right arm and shoulder. By September my neck hurt so much I could not move it and just sitting meant terrible pain; stiffness I had never experienced before. After seeing my old chiropractor, it worsened. I was referred to a neurologist who essentially told me I would have this from now on and recommended Parkinson’s medication or Botox injections every 3 months. He was incredibly degrading and almost had me in tears by the end. I had no idea what was wrong with me and felt like maybe I would have to live like this as it was not getting better despite trying some light stretching and other conservative treatments recommend by the neurologist. I tried another physiotherapist who helped a bit. I was desperate and was willing to try another chiropractor after awhile. I read the reviews on dr Kos on ratemymd and booked myself an appointment; not too hopeful as I had been disappointed continuously before. The first visit was impressive. He looked me over and performed some adjustments as well as massages and gave me nutrition recommendations that I followed very closely. I was still stiff and sore after the first visit but it was not until after the second and the third that I suddenly had some hope of improvement at last. As of this review, I have been seeing Dr Kos for 6 weeks and have improved dramatically. I could not drive or even shampoo my hair before seeing him and I can now clean the entire house with minimal pain and discomfort. I am still a bit stiff and sore on my left side of my neck but I can now function and I have hope now that I will get back to 100% for the first time in 5 months. I was told by my dr and neurologist not to let a chiropractor touch my neck, yet dr Kos has been the only person to have actually helped me. His adjustments never increased my pain; I was always less stiff afterwards. He also did not prescribe me drugs to mask the pain like the previous drs I had seen. He is a true miracle worker and much more than a chiropractor, as he massages and performs acupuncture as well. A huge shout out to dr Kos. I would also like to thank his staff (Clarisse, Yvette and everyone) for being so professional and helpful

I am a 59 year old man who had a very active lifestyle until the age of 50. Nine years ago I fell from a height of 20 feet. Up until then I had been able to run half marathons, play hockey, golf and do heavy yard work without any distress. While I mostly recovered from the fall, it significantly limited my physical activity and continued to cause me pain and despair. I went to physio therapy but only experienced more pain. After 9 years of starting and stopping exercise regimes due to the pain in my back, a friend referred me to Dr. Kos. I was somewhat skeptical of chiropractors but felt I was at the end of my road and needed to try anything that might help. After eight weeks of seeing Dr. Kos I have experienced tremendous progress. I am now able to do most everything I want to do. The only thing limiting me now is my depleted cardio fitness which is gradually coming back with increased physical activity. In fact Dr. Kos's caring and very informed work with me has progressed to the point where I only need to see him once every 3-6 weeks. He does not require me to come in every week for maintenance appointments as some chiropractors do, his goal was to fix what ailed me and then see me only as needed. Dr. Kos works with integrity and honesty. He listened to my description of the issues and then methodically set out a treatment plan. My only disappointment is that I did not know about Dr. Kos 9 years ago. I am so grateful to him! He has not only regenerated me physically but resurrected my hope for the future! Ron

My entire life I enjoyed a healthy and active lifestyle. Playing high level sports, working out and enjoying outdoor activities fed my soul. I always took care of my body by feeding it clean food, exercising and taking advantage of what the world has to offer. I was constantly in a pursuit of finding ways to strengthen my mind, body and soul. Unfortunately, a lifetime of hockey, football, building projects, heavy weights and a physically active lifestyle caught up to me and in a minute my life was stolen. Almost overnight my aching back turned into a monster I soon learned was called sciatica. My pain became so great that I couldn’t sleep, limped around and fought daily to live as an active father, husband and teacher. Nighttime became a world of horror as the pain that ran down my back all the way into my foot became so great I would walk the block in the middle of the night like a zombie just to dial down the throbbing that was beyond anything I had ever experienced (and I have over 40 hours of tattoos). Not knowing what to do I turned to my doctor. I was prescribed a dose of pain killers and told to contact a physiotherapist. I saw a physiotherapist and started a program to help me heal. I did everything I was told and saw the clinic two times a week. After two months my pain wasn’t getting better, and my life of chronic pain started to become more than any human should have to face. I was told to try a higher dose of pain killers and given a second medication to help manage the pain. I soon went for x-rays and was excited that this new knowledge would be power in my quest to heal. My diagnoses were a scary list of abnormalities in my spine that I didn’t understand. Words like disease, scoliosis and deformities screamed off the report as I sunk even lower into despair. I did however feel a new sense of hope that this news would empower my support team to personalize my treatments. As the days passed nothing changed. Days turned to weeks and my pain continued to impact my life so greatly that it became harder to fight while feelings of desperation set-in. I felt hopeless, lost, depressed and angry. I couldn’t imagine living a life in a state of such intense pain and soon began to seek out alternative means to manage pain. I bought an inversion table, read books, changed my diet, watched videos, started stretching routines, did core exercises and tried every supplement on the planet. Nothing worked. Nothing changed. I continued to fall into a pit of despair. All this changed the day I met Dr. Kos. I had always been skeptical of chiropractors and had never sought out a treatment from anyone within this field. My stereotypical fears of being bent, pulled and cracked possibly risking a world of more pain had kept me away. I decided to take a leap of faith and set up a consultation to see what this new world of care had to offer. From the very first time I met Dr. Kos it was clear that he genuinely cared and assured me that we would figure this out together. I left that first meeting with more relief than I had experienced in all the other things I had done combined. I instantly felt a sense of hope and booked a second treatment. Working alongside his father as a chiropractor, Dr. Koss built his foundation on a lifetime of knowledge utilizing more than 5 000 years of Chinese medicine along with the newest methods grounded in sound research. I have seen Dr. Koss for 6 weeks now and am happy to say my pain has significantly decreased while also dropping all the pain medication I had been prescribed. He has taught me how to sit, how to drive, how to sleep and how to move throughout my day in a way that keeps me safe and manages the pain. I feel a deep sense of care, trust and love every time I walk into his clinic and always leave a little bit better than when I walked in. Although I am still working through some of the pain I am now getting better and have faith that Dr. Kos will lead me towards a pain free existence one day. There is a reason this man is number 1 out of 219 registered chiropractors on RateMDs. I never write reviews but felt compelled to share my story for those who are stuck in the dark and yearning for some light. Dr. Kos will treat you like family and do everything he can to help ease your pain. He takes on every client with a sense of care, attention to detail, level of personalization and expertise seen nowhere in our city. If you feel lost or need help with your pain, please contact Dr. Kos today and start walking the path of a life you deserve. ~ T. Bourassa

I have seen Dr. Kos for around 15 years. I had seen one previously that just seemed to string me along. Dr. Kos usually has me fixed up in 1-2 sessions and I can go quite some time without needing to go back until I find another way to hurt myself. He genuinely cares about his patients.

I have suffered with low back pain off and on since I was in a car accident 40 years ago at the age of 18. As I aged, the pain became more on than off and for the past 7 years I have learned to live with daily low back pain that started radiating down my right leg and into my foot. It became impossible to walk any distance or do any kind of exercise without excruciating pain in my back, leg and foot. I had sought treatment in the form of physical therapy, which helped for a while but the pain returned. I also saw a chiropractor two times a week for two years, but again, without seeing any improvement. I was afraid at age 58, I was doomed to live with pain that got worse when I tried to walk or do any exercise. Over the past 7 years I have gained weight due to not being able to effectively exercise and I have felt worse every day. Recently, my brother told me to go see Dr. Kos and see if he could help my situation. My brother told me how he had walked into his office feeling like an old man with back pain and walked out after treatment feeling 30 years younger. I looked into the treatments that Dr. Kos uses and I thought let’s see if it can help. I went to see him and he spent over an hour diagnosing and treating me the first time. I felt some relief after the first visit and was amazed! After the second visit I was no longer feeling pain in my low back but was still having pain in my leg, radiating into my foot. Well I am pleased to say, that after 6 treatments involving acupuncture, chiropractic and laser therapy, my foot is feeling so much better. I can now walk much further before I start feeling the pain in my foot return. I would say that my foot is 80% healed but am continuing treatments until I can say I am completely free from pain. Dr. Kos has given me exercises to work on at home and I now feel excited that I am able to do these exercises and walk without the pain I was experiencing before. I now have hope that I will be able to shed the weight I gained over the past 7 years and get back to being an active woman, living without constant pain. Thank you Dr. Kos and to your amazing staff, Yvette and Clarisse, for your wonderful care! Your knowledge and the compassion you have for your patients is incomparable! If anyone is suffering from pain I urge them to go see Dr. Kos. You won’t be disappointed! Thank you Dr. Kos! -Wendy

Over 2 years of living in pain, barely able to walk at times, sudden muscle atrophy, seeing other chiros twice a week, physical therapists, pain specialists, acupuncturists, reflexologists, numerous trips to various ERs... after being up all night in pain yet again, I knew there had to be someone out there who knew what was wrong. I stumbled across Dr. Kos, read his credentials which were very impressive, read the various treatments he used, and then read his articles. I finally had a glimmer of hope. I don’t believe it was co-incidence both wonderful doctors were in that day, and I explained what was going on to each one separately. They both came up with the same diagnosis, nuclear lesion. They explained the plan to treat this lesion, warned me it would be painful for several weeks as it healed, and we proceeded. It was the best decision ever! Yes, it was painful and tiring retraining my back muscles to straighten up after years of being hunched over, and in reducing the inflamed nerves, but the care, time, and understanding that was provided to me was second to none! It’s been 3 weeks now, and the range of motion without pain is remarkable, all with the one major adjustment of the lower back. The glute muscles are actually working again, building and strengthening! There is minor residual nerve and muscle pain we are still working on, and I am confident it will be resolved as well. What couldn’t be fixed or diagnosed in 2 1/2 years is almost normal again in just 3 weeks! On top of the care for my back pain, Dr. Kos also keyed in on some other health issues I was having, providing helpful advice and guidance. I think that speaks volumes of the talent Drs. Kos and Stevens have in listening to, and caring for their patients. I wish I would have found Kos Chiropractic 2 years ago!

I was referred to Dr. Kos by a good friend after suffering from hip & back pain for several months, & was at my wit's end trying to deal with it. I had been put on Celebrex & told it would be needed going forward to manage my pain. After just 2 visits, my range of motion is almost back to normal & the horrible pain I was experiencing has ceased. Dr. Kos is very knowledgeable, puts you at ease & takes the time to explain everything thoroughly. His staff are lovely & extremely professional. I look forward to coming off the pain drugs & feeling better with each passing day. Thank you, Dr. Kos & team! I am very grateful!
