Ratings for Dr. James K. Salem
Dr. Salem has been the doctor who manages by diabetes for at least a decade. While one does have to sometimes wait a little while in the office, the length of the wait, in my experience, does not exceed the average waiting time of 20 minutes for all doctors. The staff has always been attentive and cooperative and competent. Dr. Salem himself is an exceptionally considerate, compassionate, and competent medical practitioner. He has always exhibited genuine concern not to just for my medical well-being, but for me as a person. He keeps up on the current research and treatments in his field. He is very diligent about coordinating my medical care with the other doctors I see.
Staff does not answer phones! EVER!!! They complain that they have only two lines, and one is for fax only, so if you need to reschedule or have an issue, you can't ever get through. The answering service does not take messages. You have to claim it is an emergency to be put through. And they don't take emails. Dr. Salem is ok as far as being a doctor, but his office is so poorly run that I can't stand to go there. And since he is a specialist, he is the only one I can use. He is often running so far behind, they could call and say he is over at the hospital - but they don't. I wish Dr. Salem would get his office up to the 21st century and get email and more than one phone line, because his customer service standards are very poor.
