Ratings for Dr. Jessica McNabb
My mom had Dr. Macnab as the attending at Eagle Ridge Hospital Emergency dept. I found her to be quite rude when asking my mom if the meds had been working for her. My mom, delirious with a fever was a bit confused as to what meds. Dr Macnab shortly snapped back the ones administered, barely waiting for a response before she was onto the next. She also asked that another family member not text while she was in room/ asked him to leave to do so as she has been video taped before. (Perhaps to get her poor bedside manner exposed). Although, I do see this as a valid request the way she requested was less than pleasant. About an hour later she requested that only one family member at a time be visiting as the dept had gotten pretty busy. Another valid request.. that I did not hear made to the pt next to us who also has 2 family members present. I found the nurses short on patience and quite cold as well. In no way do I discredit these professionals as they are well educated and doing their best under stressful and long days, however, I believe a positive environment is key to healing especially with a disease that is partly brought on by stress itself.
Just got out of emergency 6 hours with Dr. McNabb. She was amazing. Not sure what the complaints were about. She was clearly thorough, respectfull and knowledgable, but also no nonsense. the emerg was bursting and she was run off her feet but I observed her being very patient with everyone. She did ask a few times if I was taking any meds, or drugs. She needs to know if there's any chance a patient is taking anything that might exacerbate a condition. I wasn't taking anything, but had I been, I felt her only reason for inquiring vigorously was so she could treat me thoroughly. I wish she were my family doctor.
I was shocked to read the rating below referring to a condescending, judgemental MD. No doubt the worst MD in my almost 60 years of existence. Rude and Disrespectful are understatements and her attitude would not be welcome by any patient, much less one attending for an emergency. She has a chip on her shoulder and during my 1hr plus checked into the Emergency ward I observed her distain for patients and staff in general but I sensed more so for MEN. This person has issues, no doubt. Should I be unfortunate enough to have to cross paths with McNabb, I will refuse communication and treatment.
Had the unfortunate experience of crossing paths with this doctor. She gave me a long, repetitive lecture about pain medication as if I was both stupid and drug seeking. (After I'd explained to her that I was told by the surgeon on call to seek medical help for severe post-op pain at the ER.) This doctor did most of the lecturing in the waiting room, giving NO thought to patient privacy. As I was leaving, she told me next time to have my pain pills in my bag to prove I "wasn't selling them out on the street." I DID have my pills in my purse-she never asked to see them. Her whole interaction with me was incredibly RUDE, judgemental and disrespectful. It made the entire situation worse, which was the last thing I needed. If I ever run into her at RCH again, I will insist on being treated by another doctor. Her people skills leave A LOT to be desired.
Dr McNabb was incredibly helpful in finding out what was wrong with me, after having been in the emergency ward three times in 48 hours. She called in specialists until they found the problem. She just did not give up until they figured it out.
