This is TRAGIC NEWS. Emil removed a brain tumour from me 17 years ago whilst in Melbourne. It was diagnosed as a grade 2/3 anaplastic astrocytoma. After surgery and 30 radio treatments the diagnosis was 2 years to live - at best. I can't help but think he is the reason i'm still standing. RIP Emil.
I am very saddened to learn about Dr. Popovic passing away. He was a very compassionate man, loving, and caring. I was born in a vey poor family in Africa, but Dr.popovic paid my tuition fees in both primary and secondary school, and he helped me as much as he can in all other aspects of life. I attribute a great deal of my success in life to Dr. popovic and his family who loved me and cared for me even though they didn't know me. He has been my motivation in life. I can't express how sad i feel to learn this bad news. I always one day wanted to meet him personaly, but I hope that I will have a chance to meet him in Heaven. my sincere condoleances goes to his wife Jane and the rest of his family. You will be greatly missed Dr. Emil. Rest In Peace
As with others I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Emil. I came to him in 2008 after a year in agony when some of Perth's best wouldn't touch me and he performed a dynamic stabilization and I am now doing the same things I was doing twenty years ago, regaining my fitness and my strength (and to certain degree my sanity). I had the opportunity to relay to Emil that he given back my life but he was always gracious and accepted my thanks and said it was his job. My hope is that another Surgeon keeps his work alive and the belief in his products and keep providing real options to those who are almost out of surgical options (when you believe the revered and esteemed surgeons in the Perth medical society) Mate I will miss you and my thoughts are with Jane and his wonderful family and friends.Rod
Extremely sad to hear the passing of Emil. Words are not enough to show my gratitude and appreciation when you helped my wife Chrissie a little over 2 years ago with her brain tumour. Your compassion was endless, and skills immense. Our thoughts are with your family at this very sad time. God bless.
With great regret did I hear the sad news of Dr Emil Popopvic death. Like so many others I was one of his patients who put their trust into his hands. He operated on my spine and made such a difference to the quality of life I am able to lead now. I will be forever grateful and thankful to him. Perth has lost a great neurosurgeon. My deepest condolences to this wife, children and his brother Robert and family. Johanna Walenzyk
