Ratings for Dr. Robert G. Thompson
Was referred to him by my family doctor. Took 3 weeks to hear from someone regarding an appointment, received a message twice from someone telling me to call back and confirm my appointment... which I had done so the first time. The office is clean, looks to be going through some renovations also. However, parking is a bit of a nightmare, there's only about 4 spots outside the office, otherwise all street parking along a very busy residential road. Dr. Doctor seems nice enough, but quick to answer after my questions as though he is disinterested and in some kind of hurry to get me in and out. He was constantly flipping through my file, which was very distracting and a little annoying. He didn't prepare prior to my meeting. He had to keep flipping through to confirm my answers and my history. I had the surgery with him and just waiting on his receptionist to give me a call back to go through the biopsy results. Hoping to have this figured out as I do not wish to continually return to his office.
Dr. Thompson is a wonderful doctor. He helped my husband after a visit to the emergency room. He sat with us and took his time to go over all our concerns, diagnosed and treated him right away. His goal for a treatment plan was to get my husband help without having him wait for weeks and weeks in pain. He has really helped us though this, and we can't thank him enough!
I have had several endoscopies from Dr Robert Thompson and after the procedure he asks me to call his office to book an appointment. It stresses me out because his receptionist does not return my calls and if by chance she does, she is rude. The Doctor is nice enough, but nothing seems to get done. I get bounced back and forth from his office to the Hospital for endoscopies. The staff never answer their phone and you get an answering machine telling you not to leave multiple messages. I am at my wits end.
I saw Dr. at Rockyview Hospital emergency on July 5, 2014 and he told me to call his office on Monday as I should see him due to my issue. I am still having the same issue but no one in his office had returned my calls and it is almost 3 weeks now. Very poor staff. I do need to see him.
At first I was concerned about finding dr Thompson moved to clinic in the northeast. However it is so worth the drive. His new assistant is wonderful. Always smiling. I find the whole atmosphere so great. You can get an appt much quicker now and you can always get a return appt. great move doc
I will admit forthright that a portion of this review can be shared with my general practitioner as well. After returning from South America, my intestinal system ceased to function normally and was causing me a great deal of physical, and eventually, emotional pain. Bleeding, slashing pains, stabbing pains, dull aches etc... Not to mention the sudden onset of lethargy, and the pessimism and stress that accompanied. The bleeding apparently sets off a red flag for my GP though, so I got a referral to Dr. Thompson. His demeanour was quite calm and professional. He was extremely articulate and descriptive in explaining his thoughts in regards to my stomach gastro-dilemma. He scheduled a sigmoidoscopy within the week. I did the test, we had a follow up to discuss the findings of the biopsy. After all that. He told me I had IBS and that I would "probably grow out of it." That was 5 years ago. Still in chronic pain, still fight every day to assist my bowels and such. No more tests... :(
