Ratings for Dr. Charles C. Ugokwe
When we first starting going to see him, it was because of my daughter's autism. He flashed a light in her eyes rapidly and set her into a seizure (first one ever). He looked at me and said better she has one now. Her epilepsy has been increasingly worse since then. the smallest thing sets her off. She was 7 at t time. now she is 9 and he just recently decded to do the 48 video EEG. day 2 of the video feed, he came in and told me that he is not letting her go home until she has a convulsive seizure, never mind she had 6 partial focal seizure on the tape. He took her off her meds cold turkey to induce one and boy did she have a big one. after her release the seizures were 3 and 4 a day for about a week. we went back to see him, he walks in and asks why she is asleep on his table. you would think he would know that back to back seizures takes alot out of a person. we have to fight tooth and nail to get him to tell us anything. we just got tricare to switch doctors for us.
He was great when it came to diagnosing, and treatment, but if you ever decide you might want to have surgery, you better watch out. If you don't use someone he recommends, just so he can make some money off of it, he'll turn on you like a pit bull. I've been through it, everything went well for a long time, but that same event happened with me and I got stabbed in the back. I got referred to 4 different doctors and when I decided which one I would trust and he didnt like it, that was it. At one point I needed a form filled out to get my license back, he completed it and I got them, but after the incident of me not going to someone he recommended, that was it, I had another paper I needed filled out to go back to work, and he intentionally denied it, said my epilepsy wasn't controlled at the time, which was all a big lie. I hadnt been in his office the entire year for medication adjustments or anything, other than talking about having surgery, and he cost me a great job.
Initial checkup was very rushed. Within 10 min. he was saying that he thought our son had PDD (type of autism). Getting another opinion because he didn't even look at our son. He didn't introduce himself and barely even looked at us. Just went back to get the MRI, EEG results today. The first thing he said in an mean tone was "What are you here for?" So we had to explain to him (even though his chart was right in front of him). He said the MRI showed an enlarged lymph node and then started reading some jargon off of the chart that we didn't understand. He then said "take his shirt off" (no please). Then he sent us down to get the MRI films. Why he didn't have these when we arrived I don't know. It would have been helpful for him to explain them. We had to go down to the MRI dept. and ask to see soemone there that could explain them! He seemed ticked if you asked a question (like in a hurry).Needless to say we will not be going back to him.
Rude and absolutely no help at all. He spent NO time trying to explain anything to us and the patient was a 6 year old child! He wasn't very aggressive and immediately prescribed our child a VERY addictive controlled substance and did NOT even explain the drug or the side effects it could have on our child. He seemed irritated when we asked questions and and finally handed us over to a Neuro Surgeon about 5 hours away because he said he didn't know what the MRI meant. I had to contact another Dr. in the area to explain the MRI and he commented that it was a "no-brainer!" I have never paid to be treated so poorly.
