Ratings for Dr. Jay Aiken
I have been a patient of Dr. Aiken since 2007 and have found him to be the kind of Dr I would and have recommended to my family and friends. He is a Dr. who actually cares for his patients, you are not just the next in line. I have gone thru a lot in the past years with a liver transplant and all the ups and downs associated with it. He takes his time and never rushes you. If that makes your appointment a little later than expected this is why. I live in Sooke and the drive is well worth the care.,
Dr. Aiken never takes me or my family seriously. He has been our family doctor for quite a few years now. He poopoos our complaints and rarely helps us or refers us to specialists. It's a real problem and we've had health consequences because of it. He is a nice man but overly booked and very spacey. Spends very little time with patients. Rarely any follow up. It bothers me this man is my children's doctor. Would not recommend.
I have now been patient of Dr Aiken's for over 2 years and am so happy to have him as my family doctor. When I am kept waiting I know it is because he is giving other patients the attention they need. When needed I can get in to see him as he always has some time each day for emergencies. He is thoughtful, kind, funny, knowledgable, very practical and willing to discuss options. When I have small concerns we discuss them and then off he goes, he doesn't like to waste time. His office staff is excellent. I am grateful I have Dr Aiken. R Walls
I feel incredibly blessed to have Dr. Aiken as my family doctor. He has always been very attentive and personable. He takes the time to have a real conversation with you so he can more accurately get to the bottom of any issues. He is a great patient advocate and feel that I can trust him to find the cause and not just treat the symptom. He places an emphasis on healthy lifestyle instead of just medicating. I've seen a number of comments about his punctuality. If you are looking to be placed on a conveyor belt and value speed over accuracy, then he is not the doctor for you. However, if you are looking for a doctor that really cares and takes the time to ask that next question, then grab a book and cool your heels in the waiting room. When it's your turn, you'll be grateful that he takes the time he does. Who knows.....those extra questions he asks may just save your life one day. I will gladly & gratefully wait for my appointment.
Dr Aiken has been our family doctor for over 5 years. I believe he is an incredible GP as he goes above and beyond to hear his patients and find the best solution to their health issues. My children feel very comfortable with him and when they have been ill he will always fit them in as a priority. He personally calls our house to check up on the kids to ensure they are on the right track to getting better, and he always books follow up visits to ensure that he has gotten to the bottom of the health issue. He helped me get in for my hip replacements and visited me in the hospital. I feel he is very knowledgable as he also studies at the hospital I believe in the cardiac unit and does work over seas once a year. If he doesn't know the best solution he will always research the subject to find the best result. Being a doctor in this day is not like the "old days" so one cannot compare. However I believe that Dr Aiken is a knowledgable, modern, polite, caring Doctor.
I have been a patient for a few years. I have been kept waiting for up to over an hour at every appointment, many time while i have my children with me. He has refused to consider alternate forms of support when i have declined his original assessment for treatment. Unfortunatly, i can`t change drs as there is a shortage. He is my family dr on paper only at this point as i get far more attentive and quality care from the walk in clinic.
