Ratings for Dr. Nathalie A. Campbell
Dr. Campbell is very kind and seems knowledgeable and thorough, but -- and this is a huge but --her office is incredibly hard to deal with. Part of this is her staff, who can be rude, and part is her reliance on antiquated systems. For example, it is difficult to get through to someone on the phone system. If you try to leave a message, half the time the machine is full and the other half it allows you to speak for about 5 seconds before cutting you off. I finally learned to say just my name and number, because there is no time to say why you called. If you do speak with someone, they are frequently rude and condescending. I once had someone call me at 7am and say "I left you a message and you didn't call me back to confirm your appointment." Have you ever had an office ask you to call back if you don't have a conflict? Me neither. And the message hadn't asked me to. The office also relies on paper records. Although most lab tests are now centrally available for physicians to access in near real time, Dr. Campbell doesn't have an electronic health record or know how to access the state's health information exchange. You therefore need to have your lab work done far enough in advance for it to be mailed to her. And you have to be patient at the lab, while the techs struggle to read her small handwritten orders. For several years, I weather these limitations because I genuinely like Dr. Campbell and didn't hold her responsible. But it is her practice; she does set the tone (or should); and a patient shouldn't feel blamed or have to apologize for routine issues like scheduling. It is not collaborative or helpful.
Had my first visit with Dr. Campbell today. She was on time and the staff was kind, welcoming and pleasant. Dr. Campbell was so thorough. She explained everything and took her time with me, I was very pleased with my first experience and look forward to seeing her again in a few weeks.
I love dr campbell. She is very thorough. She always listens to my concerns and has an open mind about alternative treatments like acupuncture. The only downside to her practice is her unbelievably rude staff. I will never understand why she keeps Stacy around.
Diagnosed in FL with Thyroid disease 24 yrs. ago but never felt right. I visited 6 Endos in FL. Many of "BEST" did not help because tests were in the “normal” range. They didn't care about me just the test. We move back to RI in 2005 and found Dr. Campbell. She was very thorough. She went over all the results with me. After adjusting my meds my hair was no long falling out in clumps, my energy came back & I had no more foggy head. Wonderful! We moved back to FL in 2009 but we fly back every year to see Dr. Campbell because SHE IS THE BEST!!! My husband who had his thyroid removed in FL in 1995 due to cancer also fly’s back with me every year. She is very thorough with his testing due to his previous cancer and monitors him like a hawk. After returning to FL last year Dr. Campbell called twice to ensure my husband had follow up with a FL Uro because of high PSA readings. WE LOVE HER and will be fly up to see her again for our checkups in Sept! TOP NOTCH DR!! VERY CREDITABLE!! RARE!!
Dr.Campbell is pleasant&sweet which is why I continued to see her despite worsening sx.After reviewing my own labs, w/ Critical Values flagged on it, I called the office for an earlier apt to review. Her un educated staff told me they would get back to me- "Dr. Campbell already signed these labs so they are fine" ( I knew it was not fine, in fact BAD) I faxed ALL labs results from the past year to my PCP who immediately called concerned & scheduled an apt with a Rheumatologist. Her mis- diagnosis due to simple lack of care to thoroughly review is disturbing. I'm thankful I had the foresight to monitor my own results. Sadly most people do not have the accessibility do the same, and will get lost in her office system.Campbell's bed side manner can not surpass her lack of knowledge.Perhaps her case load is too high,or staff she continues to employ does not pass info along. I have been living w worsening SLE(undiagnosed, though obv in labs/sx's) while under her care for 2 yrs. BEWARE
I'm so glad that I found Dr. Campbell after seeing a very pompous endo.I have a unpredictable thyroid condition and she's done so much to help me find the right dose, the right med etc.. I tried them all.. and she is so much more open minded and knowledgeable about thyroid than most endos who will only go by your tsh, which is un-reliable. I found the staff very nice also. I never had a problem with them. If I call they get back to me the next day or sooner.
Dr. Campbell is a great doctor, HOWEVER, like other people have mentioned, her staff is the WORST and they are very rude!!! one of them even threatened me saying that Dr. Campbell will not see me anymore because I cancelled an appointment and gave the office over a week's notice of having to cancel!! Too bad she doesn't just get nicer staff, then I won't have to find another doctor.
Dr. Campbell is a good doctor, but I didn't like two things about her: her staff is UNBELIEVABLY rude, and the Dr. herself tried to push me to take phentermine in order to lose weight (I'm about 15 lbs overweight). I don't like the idea of taking speed as a weigh loss aide, but apparently she does. She is a nice person, but should dress a bit more professionally...I felt like I was talking to a high school kid rather than a medical professional.
