Ratings for Dr. Arthur Karasik
I have enormous respect for Dr. Karasik. I have been suffering of aches and pains in bones and muscles and he noticed that it could be Vit D deficiency, which it was. After taking Vit D for about 2 months I got much better. I think he is a highly intelligent, capable and dedicated physician , and has a lot of experience. I like his sense of humor too, makes me feel comfortable even if I am in a doctor's office.
I have enormous respect for Dr. Karasik. I was sent to him after cortisone shots from another rheumatologist failed to help a sore knee. He diagnosed the problem almost immediately and prescribed some very effective, no-nonsense treatment. But he also checked my calcium and pth levels which uncovered the source of debilitating symptoms that had plagued me for years. I subsequently underwent successful surgery and am now symptom-free and have reclaimed my life. I cannot thank this highly intelligent, capable and dedicated physician enough for his thoroughness, expertise and knowledge. I am like a different person now. P.S. I don't understand the criticisms levelled at his secretary. I always found her to be very efficient and remarkably pleasant. The two of them make a great team.
I've known Dr. Karasik for almost 30 years, as both caregiver & then patient. He has twin specialties of Internist & Rheumatologist. In recent years he has concentrated is practice on Rheumatology. He is extremely knowledgable & communicates without being evasive although he sometimes sounds like 'Dr. House'. He is in high demand & therefore very busy so wait times can be frustrating both for appointments & in waiting room but it is worth the wait! If he has any weakness it's that in recent years he seems to use the 'old boys' network & can send you to other specialists all over the city. His secretary/wife sometimes sounds abrupt but she is so busy juggling patients & phones she often seems just out of breath. Some of this may sound a bit negative but I'll still take him over most other doctors these days! He's worth it!!!
I ADORE Dr. Karasik! I was diagnosed with RA in my early 30's and flipped from one Dr. to the next, flat out refusing to take my meds or take care of my health. When I found my way to him, he sat me down and told me what's what. Did NOT sugar coat things one bit. After the appt, and after reading all of the info he printed out for me, I started taking my meds and was FINALLY pain free after years of barely being able to walk. I like his wife, Rose, as well too. She's a no nonsense office mgr/reception who doesn't sugarcoat things either. She's not abrupt, just SUPER busy. If you sat in the waiting room (which you will DEFINITELY end up doing) you'll understand. They make a good duo. You'll always get your referrals and appts booked. Won't go anywhere else!
I was totally disappointed with this doctor. Since he has no knowledge whatsoever of my condition, he refused to see me. However, he did not have the courtesy of informing myself nor my family physician of this fact. So, I ended up waiting 8 weeks for an appointment that never will happen due to this lack of communication. This was completely uncalled for. Now, I am back to trying to make a new referral with someone else. It's too bad that this doctor lacks information about arthritis caused by viruses. I suggest that he take some training in order to update his knowledge. I was completely disappointed for the lack of attention.
Dr. Karasik is a knowledgable doctor whose years of experience is evident as he treats his patients. He not only has helped me with my RA but assisted with a speedy referral when I required a hip replacement. I hold s lot of respect for him and the way he follows up with new joint discomforts. His wife /receptionist, Rose will ignore you while she finishes gossiping with other staff members or is on the phone with friends. Not good.
