Ratings for Dr. Donald Leroy Chew
Not friendly at all. Diagnosed me with hemipelgic migraines 4 months ago and puts me on medication and then today at my follow up barely speaks to me and then writes me a prescription for a years worth and tells me to follow up with my family doctor to come off of the medication. Tells me this in the hallway infront of other patients so I couldn't ask him why I will be stopping my treatment. Thank God my primary is amazing and will help me. See a different doctor.
Mr.Chew (Notice I did not give the respected Doctor. title) unfortunately I did not have the choice of Dr.s after suffering a stroke I have seen Mr. Chew a few times at Emerg and every time I met this man I was surprised at his lack of empathy, compassion, bedside manor. And after seeing him at the after care/ stroke clinic, my opinion only got worse (Don't let the negative reviews reflect on his staff) Every Dr is going to get a bad review because they said something that the person did not like however In Mr Chew's case they are well deserved. (even my own family Dr. has a few bad ones) Mr. Chew just because the person can not speak Dose not mean they cant hear you say “ Ah another so called stroke” or “I am tired of this stuff” Niagara Health System WAKE UP replace this person with a real Doctor, As a layman my advice is Don't have a stroke in Niagara region.
If you want to live do not see this physician! Totally dismissed my spouse who suffered brain bleed. Came to ICU without even checking file; no bed side manner; if it were up to him the patient would be a vegetable in long term care. Thank goodness I had my spouse's care transferred to Toronto Western Hospital. This guy is beyond his expiration date and needs to go.
My daughter saw Dr. Chew about her headaches and speech and hand issues She was sent to the hospital by ambulance two days prior. He told her she probably has migraines. My daughter told him that her mother has epilepsy, and could my daughter suffer from it too. Dr. Chew asked my daughter how does your mother know she has epilepsy? It was Dr. Chew who was the doctor for my wife. He told my daughter that taking the birth control pill could be causing this issue. Really! He should give up his practice of medicine because of his inability to help any patient sent to him. I will be lodging a medical complaint with the Ontario Medical Association about this Quack. Dr. Chew you have screwed up seriously when you saw my wife and my daughter.
I agree with almost every person on this form. I went to his office almost 13 years ago with some serious problems. I told him what had been happening to me and that I had looked in a medical book which made me feel that there was something wrong. He got angry right away. I guess he didn't like the fact that I looked in a medical book. He checked my eyes, tapped my knees and sent me out of his office with saying there was nothing wrong with me. I gave up at that point and stayed in my room for almost a year which finally drove me to try to take my own life. Doctor Stoltz did a MRI when I was in the hospital and said I had A tumour on the left side of my brain. She put me on seizure pills and has looked after me ever since. I thank her everyday for caring. She saved my life. I would not recommend Dr. Chew to anyone. He doesn't deserve to have a license.
This person should not be practicing. I took my mom to see him because she was having some episodes of losing her speech and confusion. He explained to my mom and I using medical terminology. I asked him to please explain to us in laymen’s terms. He rose his hands up in the air in a rage and yelled, “IT’S FAR TOO HARD TO EXPLAIN”! We were dismissed without knowing what was wrong with my mom.
Dr. Chew very nice Doctor. Listens to you and gives you the facts. He doesn't seem to be that friendly which a lot of people like, BUT he knows what he is doing and I like that in a doctor. I would send people to him. He is there to help you not tell jokes. He is all business as far as your health goes.
I found this appointment to be a waste of time. He is very old and should definitely be retired. I am so disappointed with the fact he is still able to practice after reading these reviews. We have such long wait times to get in and now will need to wait again. Hopefully we will find a dr. That will be able to help.
