Ratings for Dr. Robert E. Shubinski
I've been seeing Dr. Shubinski nearly a decade. While he's often as many as 45 minutes late, the doctor is a very reliable psychiatrist. If you don't mind what could be a very long wait (the waiting room is pretty - very old-fashioned decor) on church pews (not exactly a comfortable seating option), he's helpful, knowledgeable, caring and cautious. His demeanor is somewhat eccentric and idiosyncratic, but he has a great understanding of a wide variety of medications, their side effects, etc. He's also very cautious in writing prescriptions, so this might be a problem if you're only interested in a "quick fix". But if you're trying to find the perfect cocktail of meds to help your problems, this is a welcome trait. He definitely has a "better safe than sorry" attitude when it comes to prescribing, and that has worked perfectly fine for me. He's often late because he has work at the hospitals, so if you don't have a busy schedule and can stand the occasional long wait, I would absolutely recommend Dr. Shubinski, especially for children or adolescents. His staff isn't especially pleasant, and there are multiple other doctors working out of the same antique house (so it can feel a bit crowded if it's a busy day), but they do their job well and scheduling appointments and dealing with insurance has never been much of a hassle. Lastly, the office's location works out very well for anyone that lives near UNR and the downtown area in general. I don't think you'll be disappointed with Shubinski as your psychiatrist.
