Ratings for Dr. David Stenning
Been going to Stenning for 30 years. Listens, is attentive, is pragmatic, keeps amazing records. I have never had a specialist ask for more info from him. Is always up on new treatments for my chronic illness, has zero problem prescribing what is needed, and is happy to look at alternatives. As noted, he is indeed hesitant to prescribe things he doesn't think are necessary, you know, like a doctor. He's open which helps me be open as a patient nor do I get treated as a number. Rarely wait long, staff is great. The whining about looking at his computer is kind of funny. Would you prefer crappy records being taken? Your doctor not to reference things from years ago that may be relevant? Look up info because they literally can't know anything? Welcome to the 21st century.
Enough said about staring at his computer. He is inputting every detail about your appointment for future reference. He is also a little bit shy at first until you get to know him. He is actually quite a warm person once you get to know him and listens to what you have to say. We all are very different with how we handle each other and conversations. I would not want to label a doctors ability or amount of compassion based on the fact that he is inputting into a computer. I have found him to be quite thorough over the last 15 years. Every doctor makes mistakes, I hope they learn from them. They are not infallible, just human like you and me. I find Dr. Stenning to be quite a good doctor and very caring. Elaine
Dr. Stenning is an excellent physician. He is very intelligent and able to process a great deal of data at once. I have found that he is listening intently, despite looking at his computer. He was able to repeat back verbatim what I had told him when questioned. One of the best family Doctors around and I would highly recommend him.
Staff is excellent, very clean office. Dr. Stenning was non-professional though and not thorough. He inaccurately diagnosed me and gave me a prescription for something I didn't have. Stared at his computer the whole time (everytime I'm there) and doesn't listen.
Our toddler had a growth in his stomach for about a year that was noticeable, we took him in several times, concerned about it getting bigger and more uncomfortable. Every time Dr. Strnning assured us it was "excessive gas build ups". "Very common nothing to be worried about". We asked for ultrasound after a year as our child was unable to keep food down. Dr Stenning was insulted that we questioned him and told us to get an ultrasound ourselves as "it was completely unnecessary". We went to emerge where they examined him did an immediate ultrasound and rushed us to sick kids hospital where we were informed he has stage 4 liver cancer. It was a tumour... Dave was informed and unapologetic. Useless doctor
