A friend recommended Dr. Quay. She and her mother both found him to be excellent and knowledgeable. I only saw him a couple times. The first time, he listened carefully, frowning a lot, and indicated that my case would be challenging. Then he ordered tests. When the A1C came back with a result of 8.3, his response was, "Watch what you eat," relayed by his staff. No follow up visit was recommended. That response is inadequate; at 8.3, a serious discussion about medication is very important. After hearing a panel of endocrinologists who said exactly that, I sought out an endocrinologist on my own, and was started on insulin. Since I have several conditions, including diabetes, requiring aggressive care, I didn't go back to Dr. Quay. He may be great for someone else, but not for me.
