Ratings for Dr. Paul Mendoza
Unfortunately, finding a good family doctor is very difficult. If you're looking for one, don't choose Dr. Mendoza. You'll probably be able to diagnose yourself with Google at home, because he'll do the same thing. Getting him to refer you to a specialist is like pulling teeth. He will just not refer you. Oh, and if your appointment is for, say, 11:00 am, don't bother showing up until noon.
Dr Mendoza is pretty punctual, I'm seen pretty close to my appointment times. But He has a new receptionist. Went in 15 minutes before opening as a walk in because whole family was in a car accident the night before (including 2 year old and 6 month old) and was told the whole day was booked with appointments so they had already reached the limit -before it opened! The previous receptionist used to leave a couple spaces open for walk ins! Next available booking was 10 days later!
I too am disgusted with reception. I like Dr Mendoza and think he is good. The lack of support and follow up from reception is pitiful. Can't find records, doesn't follow up on finding documents required for next appointments , doesn't get back to me when she says she will, and now I find that the fax referral wasn't received by my specialist. Didn't follow up, even two weeks after she said she had done this. And certainly didn't get back to me. Totally ticked off now.
Worst doctor only sits infront of the computer doesn't do a thorough check up, his receptionist Lisa is a a total joke, she is useless and needs to go. If I make an appointment for 1pm I expect to be in a room in 1pm not sitting in the waiting room until 3pm. Dr. Mendoza isn't even a good doctor he just googles and prescribes stuff. I don't trust him or his sketchy loose cannon receptionist.
Lisa, can be moody. She smiles on certain days and others not. Even if it is not busy she can be moody. Dr. Mendoza is the best, and is truly caring and concerned when it comes to his patients. I do find though some patients just waste his time, that might then be when he feels rushed.
I don't understand all the hate towards the receptionist (lisa). She is accomodating patients who come in announcing, or even just getting the Dr to see their entire family despite the fact they only made an apointment for themself. This requires Lisa to shuffle appointments at the last minute while, In my opinion, remaining patient and polite to all awaiting patients. As far as walk ins are concerned, this office takes appointments first and walk ins based on the day's schedule. If Lisa were to suddenly allow a walk in while you are waiting for your appointment you'd be pretty upset. She accepts who she can and turns away who unfortunately can't be seen due to commitments. This is not being rude, this is simply being firm.
