Ratings for Dr. Mark Stender
There is often a VERY long wait time on the phone making appointments impossible at times. If you are an athlete/runner, he will listen/be interested/treat you well. If you're not, good luck getting an ounce of empathy out of him. No prescriptions by fax/phone so for even the most straight-forward, non-issue RX you have to wait on the phone for ages to get an appointment then wait another hour in the waiting room for something that would take 10 seconds. I always leave feeling invalidated and like I'm just a bother. He is friendly enough to speak with on the surface of if you have uncomplicated issues but if you want to open up/look into something, he brushes you off.
Prescriptions need to be refilled every three months so need an appointment to have them refilled a waste of MSI money. Waited over 2 hours on hold to make an appointment Very poor service and a waste of taxpayer money. Not enough doctors in Nova Scotia. If he didn’t see people every three months he could take new patients
I've only seen Mark a couple times so far, for shoulder injuries, but he seems very knowledgeable in this area & was as thorough as I think was appropriate. His staff have always been friendly to me, though both the phone & appointment wait times are definitely frustrating when you're on a schedule yourself ( e.g. work & kids ).
I am not sure how Dr Stender is but his phone situation is appalling! It is so bad that it actually makes you not want to actually go to the place. My experience, added to what I am reading on this site makes me think it would be a terrible experience. Already, just trying to change an appointment has been impossible. Have been stuck on hold for close to an hour... truly! And staff could care less.
If you like being kept on hold for at least an hour plus to make a appoinment and once you have actually made the appointment waiting another hour plus after your appointment time then this is the practice for you, Doctor Stender is good if you can get to see him his staff border on rude ..
