Ratings for Dr. Shishir K. Khetan
Dr. Khetan was a life saver to me, literally. He worked with me on a number of occasions to diagnose a problem that two other doctors could not. Once he identified the problem, I was in the hospital immediately and there for 8 days. I have been working with him as my primary follow up physician in conjunction with 2 specialists related to my health issues. He's a great point man, very knowledgeable and explains his opinions in layman's terms very well. I was surprised to see the negative comments posted here, It doesn't sound like the same person. He couldn't be more helpful, and since one of my problems will be a lifelong condition I will be dealing with him for a long time. If I didn't have confidence in him, I would switch immediately. I couldn't recommend Dr. Khetan higher.
Horrible doctor - does not communicate clearly or respectfully with patients and talks loudly in exam rooms so you can hear his medical discussions with other patients through the walls. As another review stated, his bedside manner is "incredibly aloof," and he acts indignant when questioned. He authorizes lab test and then does not send out specimens. He refuses to consult with other doctors, including within his own practice, despite promising patients that he will. He is heavily reliant on his nurse practitioner, who struggles with acting professionally in front of patients (talks badly about the colleague/patient he saw in the hallway, or in the appointment before). Both Dr. Khetan and his nurse practitioner misdiagnosed a serious illness, and their repeated and incorrect "treatment efforts" permanently damaged my body and almost cost me my life.
Dreadful doctor. Poor communication. Doesn't listen. Incredibly aloof bedside manner. Avoid this guy if you can.
Dr. Khetan seems to have a preoccupation with weight. I go see him about a sore throat first he asks about is why I gained 10 pounds in 3 months, which I'll probably loose again is as much time. He wants me to loose it, even though I can't without starving myself(which he tells me to) and then provides no help in loosing it.
The front desk has been less than pleasant everytime I've had to go in. The nurses are completely disengaged and rarely make proper notes of blood pressure readings, case in point, I was asked what the machine said as I was being ushered out of the triage room. The exam rooms are extremely small and very uncomfortable. The doctors come in with their laptop already attached to them and rarely do they make any eye contact as they plug away on their machines, Dr. Khetan is extremely unknowledgeable, especially concerning any sort of preventative medicine. The nurses at the lab are extremely rude in the way they talk AT you and make NO attempt to be respectful. I was given an order for a CBC only to have them inform me the lab was closed for the day & that was MY problem not theirs. Do youself a favor and stay away from Rockville Internal Medicine Group, unless you want to waste your time and money on a revolving door clinic with zero intelligence & patient regard.
