Ratings for Dr. Hal S. Shimazu
Dr Shimzu is the best! I've had him for about 15 yrs. At first his office manners weren't the best and apptmnts were really fast, but he has really improved a lot (good for him)! I believe he teach's at UCI. Always up on the latest in family practice.I love his new computer system. All my history can be quickly reviewed upon request, which gives me a higher comfort level. I hope he's my dr for another 15+ yrs.
When I first came to OC, I asked my co-workers who their PCP was and if they would recommend. Dr. Shimazu's name came up more than any other - they all said he was the best. He speaks fast - but just ask him to slow down and he will. It has been well over 10 years now - and, I, still agree with them. Dr. Shimazu and his staff are the best. He is very attentive to details. He is known to call you at home to follow up on you. This doctor is very dedicated and he cares for his patients. His staff reflects the same great traits and they deeply respect him.
Staff is very kind. Dr, is very rushed, talks very fast, rattles off a paragraph of questions as if he is trying to avoid malpractice if he should miss something ; do you have any shortness of breath, heart palpatations, weekness in limbs, etc. at the beginning of every visit and then seems angry if you say yes to any of them. He can be very kind one day and almost rude on another. He is teaching and trying to run a practice so there is not enough time for his patience. It is hard to get an appointment, usually takes at least two weeks. Plan on 2 hours for a visit from the minute you hit the door til you leave.
