What can I say!! Dr. Winklaar is an awesome doctor with an awesome personality. My hubby has had two surgeries for a blocked artery in his right leg by Dr. Winklaar .His treatment of the patient as well as the family is fantastic... Highly recommend him ..
This doctor is a godsend. He explains everything so that you understand what he going to do and you do not leave his office with any questions unanswered. Surgery was a success thanks to him . I felt very confident and very at ease going into surgery. I want to thank him with all my heart and soul for giving me a second chance at life. I would not be here today without him and his wonderful staff. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Irene Ryall
Dr. Winkelaar saved our grandma and mother. He is so knowledgable, but not only knowledgable knows how to simplify medical language for the average person. He treated her and us with respect and dignity. We could not have asked for a better surgeon to perform an aortic aneurysm on our family member. He was realistic and straightforward. Thank you Dr. Winkelaar for all that you did for your patient and us!
Dr. Winkelaar operated on me for a 7.5 cm Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, I must say thank you to Dr. Winkelaar, he saved my life! He was very professional and an excellent Dr. He told me all of the risks going in which they are suppose to do. Luckily everything went perfect. if you have any Vascular issues, Dr. Winkelaar is the guy to go to. He also spent time counselling my wife as it was a very tramatic time for her as well
I would give zero stars if I could. My mother saw him for pelvic aneurysms. He told her that there was nothing he could do and if they burst she would bleed to death. She spent a long time in a constant state of panic due to this until we could get a second opinion (after a YEAR due to of Canada's sh***y free healthcare system). I would not recommend him to anyone. Go see Dr Alibai instead.
Who would you trust to cut into your body, when you're in control of who you select to do it? Well, all I can say about Dr Winkelaar, is that from my first meeting, to the surgery and follow up appointments, he has filled me with confidence with the knowledge he has in his field and the down to earth way he explained it to me. If you have a vascular problem, Dr Winkelaar is the first man you need to speak to after your GP, as you can tell, I highly recommend him. Phil Ball
This is my second attempt at posting so you may see a similar comment but doing it from an ipad did not seem to work. I cannot say enough about Dr.Winkelaar, we are very lucky to have him in Edmonton. During treatment for a heart attack a chance discovery by a student during ultra sound testing uncovered a very very large abdominal aortic aneurysm. My cardiologist Dr. Patar referred me to Dr. Winkelaar who I give an a plus in all areas of the care I received from him. I do not hesitate to recommend him. His knowledge, surgical skill and bedside manner were exceptional as is his follow up now almost four months later. He presents himself in such a way as to inspire confidence in his abilities. Chats with him resolved my considerable anxiety. Big time thanks to the good Doctor
I was referred by my family doctor for a consultation on Oct 31, 2012. He did no examination, asked no questions, ordered no tests. He claimed the overdistended carotid throbbing in my neck was normal, caused by my age. By July of 2013 I was in serious congestive heart failure requiring open heart surgery. The throbbing carotid has completely dissapeared since the surgery. Noreen Walker
