Ratings for Dr. Struan Coleman
I highly recommend Dr. Coleman. He performed surgery for a labral tear in my hip. He repaired it and I was pain free for years. Recently, I fell on the same hip and symptoms started to limit my mobility. I returned directly to him for help once again.
I can't say enough about how great Dr. Coleman is! He diagnosed my hip pain almost immediately (labral tear), and I really appreciated that he tried non-surgical approaches before proceeding with surgery. He had incredible bedside manner, and I trusted him right away. The recovery from my surgery was a lot better than I expected. I am back to full activity. I am thrilled because I didn't know if I would ever be able to run again. I highly recommend Dr. Coleman!
Can't get any better than Dr. Coleman. He alone is phenomenal in all aspects of his field. Combining that with the unbelievable care of the ortho group at HSS results in an unprecedented experience. He is a "real" person on top of all of his abilities....showed a great level of care and no level of arrogance-very approachable. I encourage all of you to look for negative reviews on him. They don't exist except for some sketchy comments on this particular site! I can't say enough about my experience with him-no pain immediately after surgery. I was able to drive the 8 hours home in the passenger seat. No pain pills needed afterwards either.
Dr. Coleman is simply the best!! He diagnosed me correctly in just 5 minutes with a labral tear. (when 2 other doctors gave me wrong diagnoses). Even though I only had one appointment with him, I trusted him enough to schedule hip arthroscopy right away, and I am so glad I did!! I had surgery two months ago, and my hip has improved so much already. I am doing PT right now, and I feel so much stronger. I know that I'll be back to normal, maybe even better than normal, soon. Thank you Dr. Coleman!!
He does arthroscopic hip repairs, so there is minimal scarring, and the recovery time is pretty quick. I'm back to running marathons, and I was so scared I wouldn't be able too. Thank you Dr. Coleman for fixing my hip and allowing me to keep running! (His office staff are also all so helpful and overall wonderful).
I am forever grateful to Dr. Coleman. After MONTHS of misdiagnosis and being ignored, I sent my MRIs to several hip surgeons out of state. Coleman not only got in touch with me in a short amount of time, but knew what he was looking at (unlike local docs), and also spotted quite a bit of inflammation he suspected was a sports hernia (torn muscles). He referred me for treatment by himself and Dr. Wm. Meyers in Philadelphia, where I was successfully treated surgically for the muscle and tendon tears and torn labrum. Coleman is very pleasant, kind and polite, took the time to explain thoroughly the nature of my injuries and the minor FAI I also had. He also has the experience to recognize the severity of my labral tear, which was dismissed by local docs. If not for him, I might have stayed ignored into disability where I live, and I am eternally grateful. Surgery was fine, I am healing up fairly well, and looking forward to being able to return to the activities I love! Thanks, Doc!
After a motor vehicle accident--which left me with torn cartilidge in my right hip and left shoulder , as well as a fractured left elbow..and 6 long months of continuous pain..I finally get the guts up to consider the hip surgery that has been recommended. So I went to Dr. Coleman for a surgical consultation. He came in the room after his PA hd spoken to me. Arrogant he was.Did not offer me any clear instructions as to where to proceed. He sent me walking a loonnngg distance..to the hospital--even though I can barely walk a block..I stopped many times till a nice man walked me to the radiology department .He told me to come back to him for evaluation in 2 months and wrote to come back "as needed" on his notes . He was vague and barely spoke to me..then told me my problem might be my back..not my hip..I think after being a nurse for 25 years.. I know where to identify the location of my pain..as it is also evident that the injury is previously verified on MRIin the hip.I have no words!
