My father was referred to Dr. Mulder in Feb.2013 as a result of a mass on his lung. A PET scan confirmed it was cancer. He told us that there was only one mass and that surgery (not successful) would be required. Two months after surgery I requested a copy of the scan results and was shocked to find out that the cancer had already spread and he underwent surgery for no reason. Dr. Mulder kept delaying sending us to medical oncology (took nearly 5 months to meet with oncologist). We told him about a persistant leg pain and he said he would schedule a bone scan. Dr. Mulder never did nor did he ever follow up. He dumped my fathers case without any communication. I called his office several times and left messages but they were never returned. My father later developed a blood clot in his lung and had to be hospitalized. Learned that blood clots very often start in the leg with calf pain. I wish we had never been referred to this doctor. Shocked at the lack of care.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Our mother was operated by Dr.Mulder for lung cancer. We sought him out based on his "past reputation" and relied in part on the postings below. Big mistake. He was totally unaware of her CT scan results- we had to bring them to him a second time as he said "he lost them". He would not even look at her when he casually told her the cancer had spread after he needlessly operated on her and walked out of the room. That's it. No follow up. No compassion. No caring. Nothing. He had initially advised us that he would be the "principle" doctor in charge of her care and would co-ordinate with the other specialists. This never happened. We were left entirely to fend for ourselves. Our mother may have died anyways, but we believe her sufferings were made worse by this doctor's uncaring attitude. We would never recommend him.
