Ratings for Dr. Catherine Cruickshank
I have gone to Dr .Cruickshank for probably 20 years, I have found her and Jill wonderful. I have no complaints. She is retiring now July 2016 and I will miss her a lot. I don't understand all the complaints about these two professionals. Catherine always is interested in my personal life and travels.
I am so fed up with Catherine's receptionist. In the 20 years + that I have been a patient here, I have never seen her smile and she is very cold and uncaring... in fact rude. There are many changes in this office as I believe Catherine is retiring - she has another doctor 3 times a week whom I cannot understand. There is a language barrier - she is East Indian I believe...my point is that I can't understand her. This new doctor asks me why I am there. Shouldn't she know. I have had to have some tests explained to me and I didn't get satisfactory answers here. I do love the new receptionist that is there 3 times a week. She smiles, talks to you and is caring. Many of the postings here talk about Jill's manner and I too am wondering why she is still there. I hope to build a relationship with the new doctor, but certainly wasn't happy with my physical today.
Both Jill and Dr. Cruikshank are kind and professional. They are not warm and fuzzy, but I have always felt comfortable and found them to be extremely helpful. I have never waited more than 20 minutes for an appointment. My children and I have been seeing Dr. Cruikshank for four years now and I am very pleased with our doctor/patient relationship. It is a very busy office, but Jill does her best to fit us in even on short notice.
The staff/receptionist is rude, very unpleasant, and immediately irritated should you ask questions. Dr. C is always rushed but she obviously knows how to run an efficient business. Very often she just doesn't show up but sends a "trainee" instead - she doesn't feel the need to inform or ask you upfront or personally, I guess she can't find the time for that - instead there is a print-out on the table which they ask you to "feel free to read" as an explanation. Of course you have the choice to "complain" - but that wouldn't go over well.. - Should you be the lucky one and she shows up in person, she is solution oriented and straight to the point, not unfriendly.
I've been a patient for 7 years and have had no problems. Jill is pleasant and polite rather than friendly and runs a very busy office efficiently. Dr C is as helpful as she can be within the demands of a busy practice and I've always found her friendly and personable. I don't find her a 'pill-pusher' though I tend not to want to take medications if I can avoid them; she was helpful in arranging my one ongoing prescription to meet my refill needs. She's a GP, not a specialist, and has always been honest if she doesn't know something and suggests where else I can go to find help for a specific issue. Recently she correctly identified the source of a problem that a specialist had misdiagnosed. Her locums have always been pleasant and helpful. I have never had to wait long to see her.
The receptionist is a bit offputting and Dr. C is often running late. She does try to cut to the chase with appointments and doens't probe for more details, but when you ask questions or actively participate in the appointment she's very forthcoming and solution-oriented. She's middle aged and has many years of experience.
I have been very impressed with Dr. Cruickshank's personable and professional treatment of both my son and I. She has been efficient and appropriately concerned. I am very happy to have her as our doctor. We have been seeing her for 1 1/2 years regularly. Jill is a polite and efficient receptionist. I have never had to wait longer than 20 minutes and am often seen right away.
Dr. Cruickshank has always gone above and beyond to help me with whatever issues I have come to her with. She has taken time and energy to review my symptoms and was willing to hear my opinions on different medications and results. I have not found a doctor before or since that was as understanding and helpful. She and her receptionist are both business-like, and that is not a negative attribute as far as I am concerned. They have both accommodated me with little notice and made time for me and my concerns. I would recommend Dr. Cruickshank to anyone.
