Ratings for Dr. Douglas Fonteyne
He refuses to listen to any problems when you have an appointment and just wants to rush you through to get to the next patient. Recently he even forgot about some of my issues and prescribed medication that conflicted with my migraines. My mother also asked him about a condition and he simply shrugged it off and told her it was her lot in life
I have been seeing Dr. Fonteyne for almost 10 yrs now and I feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful doctor. He is always personable and attentive to all the little things I have concerns about. I would never go to see another doctor after having found such a gem!
I believe that if it wasn't for Dr. Fonteyne's early detection and excellent diagnosis of my prostate cancer and his persistence in getting me in to see a Urologist in a timely manner, I would of suffered many complications after having my prostate removed. Even though he was advised by a prominent Urologist in Edmonton to advise me, "not to worry about it" he believed that my PSA results and family history warranted further investigation. He finally convinced a Urologist to see me and sure enough after a further testing it was determined that I had the early stages of a aggressive carcinoma in my prostate. I was fortunate that the cancer was still in its early stages and still surrounded by healthy tissue in the gland and I qualified for non-evasive laper-scopic robotic radical prostatectomy (The Da Vinci Machine) and I am very grateful to report that 18 months post procedure I am almost fully recovered i.e. PSA undetectable , almost completely continent , and with a little help from cialis still enjoy a robust s_x life. I owe Dr. Doug Fonteyn my life and my quality of life and trust his medical expertise for any of mine or my families health concerns. I have been seeing him for over ten years he's a fantastic Doctor. If you can get in to see him I highly recommend him.... it's worth the wait.
Dr. Fonteyne is a wonderful doctor. I have been seeing him for over 12 years and won't go to another doctor. Yes, he can be tricky to get in to see sometimes, and yes, he sometimes does seem rushed, but he really cares about his patients and is very knowledgable and personable. I never feel that my visit is compromised because he is too busy to see me. The office staff are a little rude but have gotten better recently. Dr. Fonteyne is a wonderful doctor, can't blame him for being so busy when there is such a shortage of GPs.
I have been seeing Dr. Fonteyne for almost 10 years now and I would not go to any other doctor. He is so down to earth and always takes the time to address all my concerns at my visits. I feel so lucky to have found such a fabulous doctor in a time when there aren't a lot of good ones available.
Dr Fonteyne used to be a great doctor. This last year has been awful! It's like he got too busy to really care anymore. He made so many mistakes with my meds, referral letter sent to specialist had a totally wrong reason why I was there. He doesn't listen anymore! It now takes a week to see him! I thought he was different but he's just like all the rest! He was my doctor for 20 years but not anymore.
I have been seeing this doctor for 20 years and have always trusted him until recently. He has caused me so much anxiety and pain and I will never see him again. He had me on 240 percocet a month for years and I came to him on my own and told him I would like to taper off. I tried to be honest and today he left me cold Turkey and suffering withdrawl effects that are enough to make me want to kill my self. My pharmacist told him what I was going through and he still refused to allow me to go through with my taper plan. I thought doctors were there to help and I thought any doctor would be more than willing to help a patient wean off of narcotics but I was wrong and I guess that's what I get for being honest. I had overlooked many mistakes he made in the past because I trusted him but now I see how wrong I was. One of the harshest things he said to me was after suffering over 15 years of chronic back pain which he himself told me would never go away, I mentioned going on disability as he knows I can't work and am struggling on income support and his exact words were "there are people drooling and in wheelchairs that don't get disability" after he prescribes me 240 oxycodone a month and gave me a handicapped parking pass. Wtf Dr Fonteyne!!!! My family and I are suffering so much because we trusted you and have always been honest with you. I'm extremely disappointed.
I have been going to see Doug for 10+ years, great guy, very knowledgeable, has good connections with other specialist, front counter staff a little testy at times. Can be tough to get in to see him when your sick, often have to go to a medi-centre, but for things that are not urgent Doug's the best!
Dr. Fonteyne is a fabulous doctor. Wouldn't take my family anywhere else. Just wish he wasn't so buys and it wasn't so hard to get in to that you end up having to go to the walk-in clinic. We have been seeing him for 14 years now and other than being busy he is awesome. Always remembers your medical past. BUT the front desk help on the other had are absolutely awful. I am also an MOA and I could never imagine being that rude to anyone. Like really girls is your job that bad?? Your lucky to have one, and for such a great doc, be grateful!!
