Initial surgery was a success. But After complications developed and more surgery was needed awad seemed almost "annoyed" he turns everything over to his students, interns with varying levels of experience and competence. You never know who or what you get each day. He tells you he oversees everything they do, but he does not. If a "real" surgeon had been in charge of my case, and not some inexperienced students, my recovery would have been a success, and without all the complications and additional procedures and surgeries. He allows you to be treated like a lab rat, while "students" practice or try out, or in my case, waste precious time and misdiagnose the problem. I would never ever ever go back to a "teaching" hospital again, regardless of how talented the surgeon is...you end up being "practiced on" by anything but doctors...terrible experience and Awad is ultimately responsible for that.

This man operated on my brother-in-law in 2009 for pancreatic cancer. The surgery lasted 16 1/2 hours. Today, my brother-in-law runs up to 8 miles a day! Amazing.
