Ratings for Dr. Owen Williams
It has been a number of years since this person chose to tell our family that he was like God when it came to knowing how my brother would "heal" from a horrendous head injury. He told us to go home and get on with our lives as my brother would stay in a vegetative state. He was rude and beyond condescending and oh so laughably WRONG! I wonder if you ever bothered to check on my brothers progress through the years? He is driving again and a integral part of both his family's day to day life and his community. You were a very dark blot during a horrific time for us and yet we persevered despite you. We all remember you name and your extreme "pompassity" (emphasis on the ass part of that new word) we all pray that we never ever have to deal with you ever again! May you continue to be as wrong as you were when we had the misfortune to have to been on the recieving end of your "care."
My experience at my appointment with Dr Williams was excellent, he was very pleasant, explained everything in simple terms, went over my MRI with me showing me the problem. My appointment was not rushed. I would highly recommend this Dr. I found none of the negative comments about him stated here to be true. Sandra Deslauriers
Dr. Williams may not have the best bed side manner, but he is an incredibly knowledgeable neurosurgeon. He is very informative at all of our appointments and has made my husband and I feel like we are in incredibly safe hands through my husbands surgeries. He is one of the reasons HSC has the MRI operatory suites. Very grateful for his care.
I was diagnosed with a "mass on my brain" by a CT scan performed by my GP. This scared me terribly especially when the attending dr. sent me to the Neurology Dept. immediately. That was a Sunday! I was put at ease by Dr. Williams who happened to be the dr. called. He was pretty certain that what I had was a benign tumour on the meninges by the cerebellum. Not a great location but usually benign. An MRI was scheduled immediately and a pre-op meeting was arranged. When my husband and I went to meet with Dr. Williams...the wait was very short...perhaps 20 minutes. He went over the CT scan and MRI and suggested that we do remove the tumour as it was causing me problems with balance and would only get worse if we left it. He was thorough without scaring me to death. And told me the basics of the surgery and then sent me to his assistant nurse who was in charge of my file. Meeting her, she went over the entire procedure again, gave me the forms for my pre-operative check up and set the date. What more could I have asked for!! He did his job with clarity and a sense of humour that I appreciated and she did HER job with all the details. The next time I saw Dr. Williams just before surgery when he stopped to say hello. Very reassuring! I am now 2 months after surgery and doing great! I was in hospital a total of 3 1/2 days. During that time I was surprised to see Dr. Williams twice, and my husband had a call of assurance as well. Plus his team checked up on me daily. The first two days I had a very severe headache and was sick to my stomach from the anesthetics and Morphine. By day 3, I had my clothes on, was walking and taking only Tylenol Extra Strength for pain. Couldn't ask for better there either. My follow up with Dr. Williams was also good. He was there with lots of patients visiting, but we only waited about half an hour to see him. He didn't hurry us along....but explained and answered any questions we had. He gave us the information WE WERE READY TO HEAR at the time and I am so thankful that he is the doctor that operated on my head. I did have a second opinion from another Dr. but he only confirmed what Dr. Williams had said. But...he did provide me with a stellar recommendation of Dr. William's skills as a surgeon. I have a bit of the tumour left twisted around some blood vessels that will be MRI's and possible Gamma Knifed and I totally trust Dr. Williams will make the right call about that too. Dr. Williams and his team are professional, and caring and thorough. I would not hesitate the put my "head" in his hands again. He made it look like a simple procedure, although we all knew it wasn't. A sign of a terrific neurosurgeon. Mary Hagman, Winnipeg
Great neurosurgeon! He explained the facts quite well, and had a friendly demeanour and good sense of humour. I enjoyed my meeting and came away feeling confident and happy he w my doctor. A nurse I knew from his area assured me his reputation was stellar. Before the op he loaded me into a wheelchair and took me for a tour of the OR and met some of the team! The OR was in the new Kleysen Center and was awesome! My operation was as successful as possible and everyone was friendly and helpful. I very much enjoyed my conversations with Owen. He has a great sense of humour and always kept me at ease. Great post-op meeting. Pretty much scar-free, my baseball sized tumour is history and 7 weeks later I'm back on the golf course! I think I'm lucky to have had Dr Williams and the Kleysen Center.
