Ratings for Dr. Bruce Silburt
He rocks. I waited for nearly 3 years to see find a family GP. I called, begged and finally resulted to call a society to let them know my problem. They landed me Dr. Silburt and I have been with him for nearly a year now. He is my saviour :)
I have to echo everyone's comments. I love that Dr Silburt takes the time to go through information with you. I recently had blood tests and he went through the report with me item by item to explain it and even gave me a copy to take home! My wife has been going to him for years and I started going to him as soon as I met her. Now my daughter goes to him and I would not change doctors for any reason! Any wait is well worth it when you get someone as caring and understanding as Dr Silburt!!!
Bruce rocks! One could not ask for a nicer doctor. He is kind, funny, smart and knows his stuff. Waiting to see him is a given. Most of my family go to him and they all think he is super as well. The gals in the office are okay and seem seem like they are over-worked a bit, which might be very well misconstrued as them being tacit.
Dr. Silburt amazing Doctor!! Really listens, does not make you feel rushed, takes time to look you in your eyes and explain matters. The only issue I have is with reception. Perfect example; today when I called: receptionist:"can you hold?" Already put me on hold before waiting for my response ( quite the norm for them). After waiting like five minutes..."(sigh) can I help you?" Me "I'd like to make an appointment with Dr. Silburt please." Receptionist.. "sighhhhh" he's not booking for four weeks "(with the tone of geese how dare you call for an appointment ). Me "what about Dr. Kang? ( very nice Dr. Who helps out when Dr.Silburt is too busy). Receptionist "ugh, Dr. Kang is no longer with us!" Felt like she was being like ~what other dumb questions do you have. Me " what are my options to get in sooner?" Receptionist "there a walk in clinic Saturday"[again said very bitterly]. Me " thanks for you help" [ said nicely, but meant as sarcasm ]. A surprised "your welcome" was replied. I am in serious consideration of switching Doctor's due to this TOTAL lack of professionalism. Sad, cause all my family really like Bruce:/
I have been a patient of Dr Silburt's for many years. He has treated my entire family. Dr Silburt has always been caring and compassionate. My daughter has a severe anxiety disorder and was terrified of doctors. Bruce always put her at ease and made her feel like she was being listened to. He takes the time to let you explain your issue in your own way. He also ensures that you completely understand what he believes is the problem. If he is unsure of something he finds someone who can find the solution. After moving both my daughter and I changed drs and quickly realized that was a mistake. He welcomed us back with no issue. Dr Silburt is one of a dying breed in Nova Scotia. He goes that extra mile to ensure that your health is his priority.
Dr. Silburt is only the second family doctor my family of 13 including myself has had in over 37 years. The first GP, FCP we had retired and we were truly blessed to have Dr. Silburt take on all of us with ages ranging from 13 years old to 73 years old. We have been with "Bruce the Moose" (as his patients lovingly refer to him) for more that 7 years now and couldn't be happier. He is a true Family Doctor, he actually listens to you when you speak and when those days arrive when you can't quite express what is wrong or how you've been feeling, he can decipher that too!! He can tell when you need to talk about something and you're skirting the issue, he has a way of NEVER RUSHING YOU, but gently coaxing the problem out of you, and offers solutions at the same time. He doesn't get 5 stars for punctuality but I'll tell you why, first he doesn't limit you to "one complaint/issue per visit. ( which I have actually seen posted in some Dr.s waiting rooms - but not Silburt! Second he gives every patient the time they need, so if you gave a 15 minute appointment booked, but you need to talk to him longer and your appointment goes past 25 or thirty minutes it's fine, because single patient, whether they are in the waiting room or in his exam room; knows if they need a few extra minutes or heaven forbid have more than one thing to discuss it's okay because everyone gets that. Also Dr. Silburt treats all of his patients with the most amazing respect, and dignity and trust, it is heartwarming. Unlike the revolving door clinic doctors, Dr. Silburt will actually call a patient at home to make sure they are getting better, or the course of treatment is working and doesn't need to be changed or its not working and he will talk with you on the phone to see how you feel about changing the treatment. I cannot say enough positive, wonderful, kind, compassionate things abouts Dr. Bruce Silburt. In closing I will say that anytime I go to the doctor, I say a silent prayer of gratitude that Bruce Silburt is my family doctor.
Dr. Bruce Silburt is one of the best doctors you could ever have, he has done so mouch for me over the years and continues to be great everytime I see him for any problem. (That is if you can get an appointment, seeing how the phones are only answers a couple hours per day, and if you do get throught the answering system will probably hang up on you, or you'll be on hold for a half hour. The staff makes me hate going to his office but, when you get to see him it's worth it.)
