Nurses who care for his patients frequently describe him as a person who is "known NOT to take suggestions well" e.g., a specific suggestion that bloody urine should be cultured for infection was nixed. He is also described by other medical personnel as "one of those who cannot admit a mistake." In our personal experience over the past year, he has been persistently: slow to respond, slow to seek 2nd opinions, quick to seek cheapest medicine or solution, slow to be held accountable for his own actions and decisions (e.g., poses as a helpless hostage to the recommendations of other, subordinate members of the medical care team), strongly favors withdrawal of treatment (pushes really hard to obtain DNRs) even when contrary to family and patient wishes.
