Ratings for Dr. Thomas F. Florian
He dictates instead of listening to you. He likes to tell you stories and he is amused at his reasoning. I tried to discuss my concerns with him about a medication. His response was "we'll you have to take something". Not I am fighting cardiomyopthy and muscle pain in my hip and legs. Better. No worse. He is to sure of himself. Smart, yes, but what good is intelligence with a closed mind and a preconceived mind? When I stopped taking Tramadol I got better but not back to my previous state. I wish I would, have listened to me instead of him. Please do not take Tramadol. It is a dangerious drug. I reported it to the FDA.
Dr. Florian is a trained pain management specialist who undoubetedly sees many people who are "drug-seekers". He has a right to be suspicious of anyone who knows exactly what they want from him in the way of medications. I have been under his care for approximately 18 months now for right hip and low back pain. He has referred me for spinal injections on several occasions, none of which worked for me. He sent me to PT, which did not help. I have had several abdominal surgeries over the years, and a gastric bypass taht left me with only 25% percent of my stomach intact. I cannot take over-the-counter arthritis-type medications because they make my stomach hurt, and I have been warned by my surgeon taht they will eventually cause me to have ulcers. After explaining this history to Dr. Florian, he has never again questioned my need for my medication, and he refills my prescription every three months. He requires a urinalysis of his patients to ensure they are taking only his meds.
doesn't like to prescribe pain medications even when all else fails; had to go to another doctor that wasn't as paranoid about pain medications since other methods didn't work for me ( and many others ). Drug tested my 82 year old step mother and feel that ( like many others ) was totally unnecessary and costly to the patients as some insurances won't cover drug testing. I know they're is much abuse with pain medications, but when all else fails and he still refuses to prescribe needed medications, that's just not right.
I FOUND DR. FLORIAN TO BE A VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND COMPASSIONATE DOCTOR. HE TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN MY PROBLEM BETTER THAN ANY OTHER DOCTOR HAS. MY QUALITY OF LIFE HAS IMPROVED GREATLY UNDER HIS CARE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR IF YOU TRULY IN PAIN.
I was very unhappy with this doctor. He originally diagnosed me with fibromyalgia in 2000 and placed me on mild pain medication along with PT and other things. I had to change from him due to insurance reasons after a few months. I went back to him recently and he screamed at me that I never did the PT (which I did) and also accused me of not being bipolar because I couldnt possibly cycle as rapidly as I do. The man talks about you when you are in the room to other colleagues and dictates into a phone about you. He doesnt care what he says about you even if it isnt true and if you try to correct him he gets an attitude. He is arrogant. I will never go back to him. His office also failed to tell me that they stopped becoming a preferred provider on my blue cross and it caused me to owe a large bill. They simply continued to take my copay.
does not believe in pain meds for fibromyalgia and seems to think most people who come to him are seeking highs of pain medication. He constantly orders urine drug screens for even estabilished patients. Even with a long history of pain meds, he would not prescribe me anything strong enough to help my pain. If he would just try to understand how bad people really hurt and not automatically assume they are there for medications to abuse.
