Ratings for Dr. Aneel Nihal
After injuring my ankle and being misdiagnosed I was referred to Dr Nihal. He quickly found the real problem and recommended surgery, this was 4 months after the accident. The surgery was quite complicated as there was residue from an infection early on combined with a foreign body being in the wound and a cut cartilage which holds a tendon in place. He cleared the wound, removed the foreign body and repaired the cut cartilage. It is now mid January and I am having physio and hope to be back to work in early March. Dr Nihals knowledge is exceptional and his ability to explain the procedures and rehab in understandable language is a great plus. Dr Nihals staff are extremely professional and the clinic is very well run. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. Thanks again Dr Nihal. From AW
Three years ago I had a compound fracture of the left ankle, then a fast trip to hospital by ambulance, resulting in surgery to repair the damage, all was well for about one year, then regular acute pain was felt for the next two years, resulting in me only sleeping on my right side, it was impossible to sleep on the left side as the ankle ached via pressure, causing interrupted sleep, I could only wear flat shoes and never boots, it seemed to rule my life and depressed me, but then, thank God I chose another surgeon, Dr. Aneel Nihal to assess the post op problems, I can only say that it was a relief to be pain free and to be in the hands of a very accomplished surgeon , who takes the time to explain fully, each step to recovery, Dr Nihal cares for his patients throughout the whole procedure, his staff are friendly and follow up all appointments for his patients, thank you Dr Nihal for giving me freedom from pain. Dr Aneel Nihal. Sub Talar Fusion right foot. After working for the past two years with a very sore foot and two cortisone injections I was referred to Dr Nihal in October 2016. After initial xrays and consultation and then a spectrum CT scan, Dr Nihal explained that due to previous injuries my sub talar joint had deterioriated and would need a sub talar fusion to remove the pain . He talked me through the full process including an assessment by physio as to how I was to manage with non weight period post operation. The sub talar fusion was completed by Dr Nihal on the 11th January 2017, and after 12 weeks I was back at work. 10 months on I am jogging without pain and back to full fitness, and the foot is strong and pain free. I am glad that I chose Dr Nihal. His staff are excellent and talked me through the processes and why I needed to take the actions that I they recommended. ie rest and non weight bearing, partial weight bearing and use of the moon boot. He is highly respected by the nurses on the wards and even the xray people who have been at his lectures on the requirements need to get the specific elements in his required xrays. I cannot recommend him highly enough for any one having foot pain.
Dr Aneel Nihal. This man saved my livelihood. I had a freak accident while competing in a motorcycle road race event. I was thrown at high speed through the air and up the hard bitumen. I shattered my left foot so badly that it would of got gangrene. I was misdiagnosed at not one, but two public hospitals. One being the state of the art Gold Coast University Hospital. I had a very complicated Lisfranc injury. This is a severe life changing injury that can stop you walking. I was told to go home and wait for the swelling to reduce so the public hospital could attempt a surgery that they could not explain to me and was a different story to the first hospital. While discharged waiting for the swelling to reduce in my foot which had a bone penetrating the skin, I decided to get a second opinion. When i met Dr Nihal he was quick to diagnose my foot and then I knew i was in big trouble with how much damage I had done. He was professional and knew what he was doing. He told me every single thing that would happen and how it worked. He told me I would be struggling to walk at 12 months. After a full complex foot reconstruction and 6 hours in theatre, 40 days in hospital. A total of 3 months off work. I was walking. Completely normal. This man is a true master surgeon. I had one chance. He was it. People injure themselves in horrific ways. They expect a sugeon to work miracles. I was lucky to be able to walk. It was a Dr Nihal who took the pain away. Mans a genuis.
Dr Nihal is EXCEPTIONAL he is highly knowledgeable, professional and obviously a highly talented surgeon. And to top that off he is a warm human who genuinely cares for his patients and successful outcomes. I was referred to Dr Nihal 18 months after an original injury that never healed properly (and was not treated adequately at a local hospital and also a general practice), this then resulted in further complications (and pain). So I presented to Dr Nihal with 2 problems. Dr Nihal wisely (and rapidly) was able to diagnose both issues and determine the appropriate course of action(s). 4 months on from 'complex tibialis posterior tendon transfer and heel realignment surgery' I am walking well and the foot that was misaligned is now PERFECT (I still have another 6 months or so for full recovery) but it is a delight to have been in the care of someone who knew from first look what the issues were and knew what to do and did so with such care and attention. The doctor and staff kept me well informed, I knew what to expect of the surgery, the hospital stay and during recovery and what not to and to do. Knowing that was an important part for me. The Staff are also a delight and welcoming with a smile and personalised greeting by saying my name. Reception and accounts are prompt to respond to queries and always friendly and efficient. Once there was a lengthy delay before my appointment time, but other than that I would say the record here is far better than most places sometimes I even was whizzed in before my scheduled time:-) Besides there is a coffee shop nearby and the receptionist will call you when it's time for your appointment. My only wish is that I went to Dr Nihal at the time of the original injury - however I found my way to him eventually and thanks to his skilful surgery I am now able to continue to walk the rest of my life:-) I am grateful and will be forever so thank you Dr Nihal - from Sonja
Dr Nihal is professional, thorough and most importantly knows about ankle injuries. After my first operation in a public hospital and after nearly 8 months Dr Nihal was able to diagnose a problem straightway. Then a plan to fix it. Now 3 months post surgery my ankle is feeling the best it has since before I broke it. His practice also operates with integrity and honesty in not overcharging patients and even came through with a refund when I overpaid switching health funds at the last minute. This was also handled with some extra stress, my fault, by Dr Nihal's staff. The overall experience with Dr Nihal and his team was great
