Dr. Dina Sukharev is a money hungry doctor who does not show compassion toward her patients. But her charge is higher than average doctor in the same medical organization. My daughter had a fungus infection on her leg. She forgot to refill her antibiotics prescription in her college medical room before coming home for Christmas (it would have been free if she did). I called Palo Alto Medical and they said Dr. Dina Sukharev was the only one had openings two days before Christmas. They claimed that she was specialized in dermatology. Once we got to her office, the 1st thing she told us was that dermatology is not her specialty. She appeared to be very tired and did not want to talk to us in detail and answer questions. Basically, her demeanor shows that she did not care about my daughter. She merely wrote a note to have the antibiotic cream refilled. We spent about 10-15 minutes in her office. She charged $315 for it! For a similar office visit that same day (also in Palo Alto Medical Foundation but a different location), my son’s doctor, Dr. Boillot, charged $215. The visit with Dr. Biollot was about 20 minutes long and he appeared to care quite a bit about my son’s general well-being. We are on high deductible plans and no one in the family has seen a doctor last year prior to those two office visits. So we had to pay out of pocket entirely.

Worst doctor ever. Her medical license should seriously be revoked before she causes patient deaths.

I found Dr. Sukharev to be very good. She does not have those taught insincere "bed side" manners that is expected within the American medical system, but she does know what she is doing, which is a far cry from other GPs that I have gone to in San Jose. Basically, she has more of an "old world" personality and approach when it comes to interacting with patients. Thus, I find that she feels more comfortable with you on the second and third visit, and I find that I like her more and more over time. I find this to be a better situation than a doctor that comes off as friendly initially and then is impossible to deal with later on. As well, she did a lot to line up all sorts of physical therapy for my leg, and got me on the right pain medication to ease the swelling. Finally, she responds to email right away, and provides directions as to what needs to be done to get me on a path to better health. I am happy that I have Dr. Sukharev as my GP, and I look forward to seeing her again regarding my health care needs.

This was my first visit to the office. I was hesitant to use a HMO but finally decided to after to much hassle going out of network. I was pleasantly surprised. The office looked well organized and they have online access to check test results and e-mail them. Dr. Sukharev wasn't friendly, I really don't care though, she seemed knowledgable and that's all I need.

Dr. Sukharev asked me many questions and spent a good deal of time with me, but did not appear to actually be listening. She was curt and came off very quite pompous. I felt like she came into the appointment with pre-judgements on my needs. She wrote my prescription wrong and I had two pharmacists make a comment. One even said, "Sorry, this doesn't appear to be your correct dose, just have your regular doctor fix it when you see them again." Needless to say I switched my primary care provider immediately. I don't think she'd ever actually prescribed the medicine before, she was hesitant to fill it in the first place and I've been on it for 7 years.
