Dr. Ritter initially received his undergraduate training at Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts. He then attended medical school in New York City at Mount Sinai University Medical Center, completing his MD degree in 1981. His medical training continued with a residency in General Surgery at Brown University in Rhode Island at Rhode Island Hospital and a subsequent fellowship at Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland in 1987. Dr. Ritter has received board certification in both Colon and Rectal surgery, as well as General Surgery. Following his fellowship, he relocated to the Daytona Beach area in 1987 and has been practicing in the specialty of Colon and Rectal Surgery ever since. Dr. Ritter is a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Piedmont Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He has maintained associations with the American Medical Association, as well as the Florida Medical association and the Volusia County Medical Association. He currently holds certification in the Colon and Rectal Surgery and General Surgery. Dr. Ritter has continued to be involved in the Daytona Beach community with positions of Chief of Surgery at Halifax Medical Center and presently is Chief of Staff at Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial. He has recently been appointed to the Board of Trustees for Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial in conjunction with his Chief of Staff position.
