We came to see Dr McKnight as we were over in WA for a national hockey tournament. My 13yo had a sore throat, for 4 days, so we brought her in. Yes it was diagnosed as a throat infection, but then the Dr said it was likely it was glandular fever. My daughter had had no other throats infections, no other symptoms etc, but when asked for a medical certificate to say she was still fine to play whilst on antibiotics, he refused to not include the glandular fever reference. When I questioned him on it he got quite dictatorial, talked about how he had 50 years experience (sounds like retirement age to me) and how girls this age share saliva all the time, and how 50% of girls with swollen glands have glandular. He then went on to say, in front of my 13 yo, that if she continues to play she could die. His reference for that - oh, bcos a poor little 8yo had died of flu this year, it was therefore conceivable that this could happen to my child. So even though I pointed out we were there for a National tournament and had spent thousands of dollars, he wouldn't budge from his stand point that on the 50% chance she had glandular, he wouldn't sign her off. Of course another Dr thought this the joke it was, and gave her the letter we needed. Now we have blood tests etc and can prove it was not true. Another Dr confirmed 50% of kids have glandular is ridiculous, and I view, this was his response to a women questioning 'his view'. 50 years experience puts him at well over 70, out of touch with people, women, kids and the profession. I bet he doesn't have the right 'kept up to date' certificates. I don't know what it's called but most good Drs have them. Don't risk going to this guy!!!!

Dr. McKnight has been my GP virtually since birth to 40 years of age. He is knowledgeable and professional, and has always correctly diagnosed and treated any issues I have had. I see some reviews have regarded him as rude and unprofessional. Dr McKnight has a fairly business-like manner but to interpret that as anything else is a mistake. He is an excellent family GP and trusted professional who I can recommend based on 40 years of experience.

Awful bedside manner. Each time I have seen this doctor at Cannington Medical Centre as the doctor on duty, he was extremely rude and unprofessional.
