Ratings for Dr. Maryam Shayesteh Alam
I have been under her care for a few months now and I am thrilled by the way she treated my dire situation. I had a disease that none of the doctors I saw could find any clue about it. I had lost my whole hair and had multiple wounds all over my body. I was very fortunate that ended up being dr alam's patient because she found what was wrong and after a few months of treatment I am a normal person now. It is a miracle. I can't thank this great doctor enough
I agree with one of the raters that there should be 2 dr alams in barrie!! The one that I saw today was very nice, welcoming and caring. She answered all my questions by a great patience and helped me to understand my situation. She gave me the best advice that I have never heard from other doctors that I saw. I was in a skin doctor office in Newmarket a few months ago and it was awful. I will always ask my family doctor to send me to Dr alam for any skin problem.
I was in her office for a mole check. I waited for about 40 minutes in the waiting room. The receptionist was very nice and pleasant. I waited inside the room for about 5 minutes. Then Dr Alam came in with another doctor who introduced himself as a family doctor resident who is training with Dr alam. Dr alam was
Meeting Dr. Alam was unpleasant. She was dismissive and rude. She wanted to charge outrageous amounts for minor procedures. She was an hour and a half late for the appointment. Once I got to the office, I saw the sign that the wait could be up to 2 hours due to skin cancer patients. I understood. But good form would be to let the patients know when they call to remind them about the appointment that there will be this wait. I had to cancel a job for the day because of this wait. I asked about the redness on my face and my acne and she said "Today doesn't seem like a bad day" and ushered me out of the office. She was unprofessional and rude. If she does not want to deal with minor skin problems, then she should stick to the more severe problems and not waste people's time. I waited 1.5 hours for her to speak to me for 5 minutes. Terrible experience. I will be finding a new dermatologist.
Wow! By far the rudest meanest Dr. I have EVER encountered! 2 hour wait to hear " I don't know if it's cancer, do you want a biopsy or not?" Hmm I thought she went to med school..so why am I answering whether I need a biopsy? Regardless of her "medical" opinion, she was plain mean rude and ignorant. Period. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND HER TO ANYONE! WOW! Just wow! I can't even believe the good ratings i have read here. Are there 2 Dr. Alams in Barrie? To whoever said we owe her? Oh I am pretty sure the ohip billing for the 25+ ppl I saw come and go in 2 hours, we owe her nothing but more of our tax dollars so she can keep over booking and then clearly overbilling. I am DISGUSTED
What a great experience i had seeing this doctor. Very fast and efficient. While sitting in the waiting room I saw many patients coming to see her from all over the region even from Toronto because everyone knows that if you have a serious skin problems that other doctors scratch their heads and don't know what is going on, you have to see Dr Alam!
She is very focused and is able to review and make quick decisions .Her office is super busy and I don't think she has plenty of time to chit chat. This makes many people upset!! I realized that although her office is very busy and tons of people sitting in the waiting area, she makes wise and correct treatment decision and advice. Her reception staff are very nice and polite and helpful and will try their best to get you the best service they could. Everyone needs to understand that with this heavy patient load and multiple complaints , there will be delays. I noticed so many patients are coming directly from the Hospital cross the road and begging to be squeezed in!! This it the problem of our health care that doesn't give any incentive to the doctors to work in smaller towns or remote areas. It is almost a year that the other skin doctor has been suspended and 2 to others retired but none of the Toronto dermatologists are willing to drive up to our city. I know that Dr.Alam is seeing patients in Barrie for years now and some of the patients don't seem to be appreciative. She is doing very well and for me, she was a life saver. She treated me for a mole that I had shown to my previous female skin doctor and she just ignored it. It was found to be melanoma!!!I did a surgery by one of the great surgeons of her team and now I am back to life. Thank you Dr. Alam for your utmost attention, good judgment, treatment, help, knowledge, and skills. Thank you Dr.Pirani for your wonderful job in cutting my cancer out and many thanks to Simcoderm's staff and nurse.
I went there to have a small cyst removed from under my eye as if impairs my vision by moving my glasses and bleeds when rubbed and she told me if I wanted it removed it would cost me $400 ! My family doctor told me it would Be covered under OHIP what a waste of time . I am beyond upset about it as it is effecting my overall health. Do not recommend her to anyone !
