Ratings for Dr. Maryam Shayesteh Alam
I drove 3 hours to get to the clinic an hour early. Waited over 2 hours to see Dr Alam. She never said anything to me except where is the mole, and I'll see you in 2 weeks for the results. 2 weeks later I was given the wrong results by her nurse. I was however referred to an amazing surgeon in Collingwood. They would not give me results over the phone, but did give me a travel grant paper. I have been to sumcoderm 3 times and the visits just keep getting worse. My last visit was booked with Dr mamoodhi. That was a complete waste of time. I will never go back. Now they don't give travel grants because of the ministry. It's funny that all other Dr appointments I've been to have signed my travel grants...simcoderm is extremely shady in my opinion.
One of the worst medical experiences I have ever had. Dr. Alam was far too busy to answer any questions I had and spoke poorly of both my family doctor and the pathologist that my family doctor had used. Thankfully the surgeon she referred me to in Richmond Hill was superb and answered all my questions,, thus finally putting my mind at ease. I have decided to see a dermatologist that he recommended even though it means going further for treatment. Unfortunately Dr. alam is the only dermatologist in Simcoe County. I would suggest to others that they if they require a dermatologist they ask their family doctor for a referral outside Simcoe county!
Awful, just awful. Misdiagnosed me and I waited an hr and a half. Complete waste of time.
The staff are extremely rude and talk down you. They are always overbooking considering you’re waiting 30 minutes to 3 hours and Dr. Alam spends maybe 5 minutes with you if you’re lucky. You’re just the next number in line. And if you have multiple issues you need to book an appointment separate for each one(she gets paid for the extra visit and you took your afternoon off for a 5 minute appointment that was attached to a 2 hour wait). The energy is so negative from staff it’s just awful going there.
This is an extremely busy clinic but staff is very helpful and accommodative. There are multiple doctors and nurses in this center who are working around the clock! I don't know what would happen if this center and dr alam close downs the practice like the other skin doctors in Barrie. Reading some nasty reviews makes me very disappointed. I believe we are getting a best care possible especially for serious issues. My husband is 75 years old and I didn't know how he could better service from any other doctor. Dr alam has answered all our questions in a very professional way and never showed any attitude or any this less than great bedside manner.
Super nice, very caring and full of knowledge. This is what I can tell about dr Alam who has been seeing my son for a few years. I owe her the health if my son . She properly diagnosed and treated my son and he is free of his sickness now. I am very grateful
Dr. Alam has the worst bedside manner that I have ever experienced out of the many doctors that I have interacted with (and there have been many!). She is always late by at least 45 min. Once waited close to an 1.5 hours. She interupts you frequently. Once told me to get to the point. She rushes you and makes you feel like your concerns are not important, like she has more serious cases, that psoriasis and non cancerous moles are a waste of time. I asked to have a mole removed as it had grown in size and now affected my self-confidence & was painful at times because my clothes rubbed against it which causes it to bleed and scab. She refused and said it may be "ugly" (her words) but it's harmless, live with it. That certainly didn't help my self-esteem. She also misdiagnosed 2 moles as "nasty genital warts" (her words again!) I was mortified. I knew this was a misdiagnosis because I had them for about 10 years prior to her seeing them. They had been seen during many other examinations during my yearly paps, through all my pregnancy exams, child births, an ablation and by other dermatologists who tracked my mole developments. Ya think someone would have noticed that! I even went back to my family doc and asked for a second opinion and he confirmed that they were harmless moles NOT warts. Also asked my nurse practitioner for another opinion and she did not agree with Alams diagnosis. Dr. Alam made me feel lower then ever. I left 1 of 3 appointments in tears and have never gone back which is unfortunate because I have a high risk of skin cancer because of the number of moles that I have.
