Worked with Dr Lauder for three years in the UK as a technician. Professional, conscientious and caring are all words that apply to Dr Lauder. One of my definite "go to" Anaesthesiologists plus she uses intra-venous anaesthesia.

Amazing anesthesiologist! I feel so fortunate that my daughter had Dr. Lauder for two major long surgerys. I felt so confident with my daughter being in her care she is the best in her field! She made my daughter feel very special and excellent bedside manner. She truly cares about her patients.

She is great at viewing things from an idealistic viewpoint. However, she has little regard for proper and respectful patient interactions as well as a poor understanding of mental health. Her overall understanding as an anesthesiologist is fair but her poor bedside manner does not make it worth your while. She has little tolerance if one wants to deviate from her course of action; it is her way or the highway. Do not even consider a second opinion when you are seeing her, she will shut down that idea very quickly. If you do get a second opinion, without her knowing, watch out because it will most likely bite you in the behind. She talks very disrespectfully about any doctor that contradicts her. Overall, she should not treat adolescence as she cannot handle any degree of depression associated to the medical problem. In fact, she may just threaten a psych ward admission. She is not a God... she is a human being and she can make mistakes... however, I do not believe that she is using her power at BC Children's Hospital appropriately. She should be respected, but the mention of her name should not cause other doctors to refuse a patient treatment. My family doctor refuses to medicate one while a patient sees her, as he does not want to cross doctor Lauder. However, this can pose problems if she refuses to medicate a patient herself. She needs to develop a sense of compassion and she should be held responsible for any doctor caused PTSD that she causes not only patients but their relatives as well. It is inappropriate to yell at patients, driving them to tears, in order to keep power in the room. If she is unable to help solve one's problems, she blames it on mental health problems and sends them on their way to a psychologist; not acknowledging that there is an actual problem. If you want to stay on Lauder's good side, take your vitamins and never tell her if your using anything other then she has told you to use to treat the pain, even if what she has given you is not enough.

Poor bedside manner. Cold and abrupt. She gave my daughter an excessive amount of phentanyl, so she was extremely sick after her surgery. Lauder just didn't seem it care. She was throwing up until another doctor had to treat the nausea.

Cold fish at a children's hospital. Poor diagnostic and assessment skills. Failed to properly assess case as she performed a physical exam in area only where incision from surgery was. Physiatrist found problem area located in connecting muscles. With a few shots of cortisone by the Physiarist and the problem was solved. Lauder's advice was that patient see a pain counsellor to just deal with it. She has no regard for dignity of patient. She appears defensive of her bad judgments. She denied making statements to nurses about her unwillingness to assist the patient during recovery.
