Ratings for Dr. Brent Appleton
Dr. Appleton saved my life when all other doctors were baffled about what was causing my rapidly deteriorating condition. While it's true he can ocassionally have a volatile temperament (we all have bad days), i find him very caring and attentive. I could not be more grateful for the amount of time he has given to me in explaining things and completing the amount of paperwork required to get my treatment.
I think Dr Appleton is wonderful. I have severe health problems, and I feel like he has always been there for me. He even came to the hospital when I was admitted on a few occasions to check on me. If a medication makes me feel sick, we try something else. He is open to suggestions. I do share a lot of my alternative health ideas with him, and he has never told me that anything is a bad idea. I have found that eating gluten-free and becoming a vegan has significantly reduced lupus flares and joint pain. He genuinely wants to help and is a very kind man. That being said, I do however have multiple issues with the front desk staff. I find them to be extremely rude. I never understand how that kind of thing can happen, because the people that come in there are already dealing with so much. Most of us are sick and just trying to get through another day. The last thing we need is to feel belittled when we see our Dr.
I have seen Dr Appleton for over a year and he has never, not once dismissed my alternative suggestions. In fact he has openlystated that I should try what ever I feel helps. He is open to suggestions and is more than happy to discuss research on any given topic so you can make your own decision. He is a a rheumatologist, and is obviously going to prescribe pharmaceuticals. Work with him not against him and you will be pleased. He is great with my employer and willing completed required forms to help you manage your illness. As for the receptionists they have always been helpful and supportive. Flat affect does not mean someone is rude or trying to ruin your life. They are doing there job and will help you unquestioningly if you ask ... politely.
Dr. Appleton almost ruined my life. I was developing either rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis. I had heard about honey bee venom shots curing this disease. When I brought this up to him.. Dr. Appleton laughed and told me that bee venom shots was the equivalent of hitting myself with a pan. I reminded him that I would actually be injecting venom into my body. He continues to be unimpressed and condescending. He was trying to get me to go on Remicade (a drug used in chemotherapy) and could not confirm whether or not I would be able to get pregnant in the future... after doing this drug. I told him I would rather roll on the ground in agony... SCREAMING... than give that up! He kicked me out of his office... telling me he could not help me any further. I ended up doing the honey bee venom shots and I have NO arthritis symptoms. I'm surprised he was so quick to dismiss my idea. I could only eerily imagine what my life would have been like if I had cowered down to him. I wish doctors would consider alternatives. All they know how to do is diagnose, prescribe and do surgeries. Remember, doctor offices are called practices for a reason... they are practicing on you! If you have any arthritis symptoms or inflammation, please consider doing honey bee venom shots. Meditrine Naturopathic Medical Clinic is where I did mine. Good luck in your search for your cure!
I have read some of the reviews of Dr. Appleton and I can assure you he is none of the above. My experience after my first visit was excellent, very caring, knowledgeable and concerned about solving your problem. I am a CEO and have managed many many people and in my view you don't go there to befriend the receptionist or even care if she is having a bad day. I am happy to have been referred to Dr. Appleton.
