Ratings for Dr. Avi Chatterjee
I suffered for 7 years from terrible gastric attacks after having my gallbladder removed because of gallstones. Nobody could help me except him. He cut my liver sphincter and I am pain free ever since. I will be forever grateful. He is very knowledgeable and was not arrogant at all. I would not hesitate to recommend him. Gisèle G.
i have had very positive interactions with doctors my entire life but Dr chattergee was a walking medical horror show. He decided in 30 seconds what my problem ( severe abdominal pain) was caused by even though it did not present like that. Fine, but he then refused to budge from that diagnosis when no treatments helped. He then treated me as a " problem" and told me he would refer me to psych. In desperation and bed bound with pain I went to the states where in 15 mins they diagnosed abdominal nerve pain and within a few weeks with nerve pain meds I was fine. And yet he still wouldn't budge from his original diagnosis. I believable. I don't care about beside manner but a doctor of any professionalism should be willing to consider that their first call may not be correct. In my opinion he completely lacks any sort of scientific process and if a person doesn't conform to his diagnosis he seems to resent them. So if all you need to a routine colonoscopy and fairly common and easy to diagnos things like IBS or crohns and you can put up with arrogance, sure fine. But anything else, just ask for another referral. I was also speaking to a friend of mine, a lawyer who speacializes in medical malpractice and she said his name comes across her desk constantly. It's almost impossible to sue in Canada unless you are terminal, so he gets away with it.
Had an EUS done by Dr. Chatterjee. He's been the only Dr. willing to further investigate a problem that has been causing me significant anxiety, which has been greatly appreciated. He seems very knowledgeable, and the procedure appears to have gone smoothly. My only criticism would be that there hasn't been much consultation by Dr. Chatterjee himself, and he comes across as very busy to take the time to sit down and have an actual discussion. Nonetheless, his EUS fellow was fantastic in helping to fill in those blanks.
I had two procedures done by Dr. Chatterjee, both were done well and on time, he is experienced and communicated perfectly with me. He removed a cancerous tumor from my esophagus with a technique called endoscopic mucosal resection. He suggested it and until that moment I had no idea that this procedure was a possibility, I thought I would need an esophagectomy. He been one of two doctors I would recommend from my journey through this cancer adventure
Dr. Chatterjee and his team performed a procedure for a loved one and this procedure was not only unsuccessful, but it introduced myriads of problems. There is no ownership of these new problems created by them. The patient has been wholly abandoned. Never go to this doctor and his team, unless you wish for difficulties to ensue
