Ratings for Dr. David Telio
I have been dealing with Dr. Telio since late february of 2018 regarding my wife's stage 4 NSCLC cancer. I consider us lucky to have him as her oncologist. He is throughly up to date with all the latest cancer therapies, including immunotherapies and targeted therapies. His recommendations and advice has been invaluable. Dr. Telio sincerely cares for and will go the extra mile to secure the best therapies for his patients.
Dr. Telio is arrogant and very rude. I can’t believe he is an oncologist that deals with people going through the most traumatic time in their life - and their families lives. He walked into the room and started waving his hand in front of my dads face yelling, “hello, hello, hello.” My dad is terminally ill with mesothelioma and horribly sick. David (he doesn’t deserve to be called a doctor) didn’t have the patience to show my dad an ounce of respect. He didn’t once ask my dad any questions about his health, or how he felt. He just wrote him off as terminal. When we were discussing a future appointment for my dad, his remark to this was, “well he’s still alive.” I found his attitude and demeanor disgusting, he is revolting. This doctor should not be treating people during the most painful time in their life. In my opinion he is only nice to people that he believes will survive treatment or have an option for treatment. He doesn’t care about your family, he doesn’t care about his patients. I don’t care how we are treated as family members. But my dad deserves the respect and dignity to be treated as any other patient who has a chance of survival. Zero compassion.
Felt dismissed, he seemed insulted to be asked questions about complementary therapies - as though his personal knowledge and competence was being questioned; while admitting to having no clue about a new therapy available in Canada. Failed to administer appropriate tests in a timely manner, thus making the battle ahead much harder than it had to be. Not what anyone needs when facing one of the worst times in your life. Seemed very callous at follow up appointments - continually stating "it's not if, it's when it comes back" far less than helpful for an anxiety ridden individual; especially when ones mindset plays such a vital role in the healing process!
This doctor was running late from a previous appointment by a half hour and didn't take much time to listen to my medical concerns. After waiting half a year and driving almost an hour to this clinic, I felt like the whole appointment was a complete waste of time and disappointing as I did not receive the care I would expect from a specialist.
He truly listened to my spouse and kept him alive for longer than the statistical average and he was compassionate and caring to my spouse for which I will always hold gratitude in my heart. He never rushed through his appointments and has the best bedside manner I've ever seen. He and his staff are the best of the best in humanity.
1. Never rushed in his office 2. Always on time 3. Orders all tests one can think of, to be as sure of diagnosis as possible 4. Explains everything clearly, tells situation as it is, good or bad 5. I am not a doctor myself, but he give impression of an expert 6. Very pleasant, easy to engage into conversation with. I hope the reader of this review does not need oncologist, but if you do, your search is over, consider yourself lucky
