Ratings for Dr. Deepshika Modi
I was a long-time patient of Dr Gibson and moved to Dr Modi when he retired. My interactions with her have been uncomfortable and awkward. For one issue that I'd come in with for the first time, she didn't take any history and immediately made a diagnosis and wrote a prescription. After seeing her 3 or 4 times, and coming away from each appointment feeling that she can't wait to see me leave, I've found a new family doctor. If you don't care for her style, keep looking until you find a doctor you like.
Dr Modi became my family doctor once Dr Gibson retired. I find her to be very kind, and especially good with children, she is always very sweet to my four year old son. She is very attentive to her patients and has a great memory for small details. I feel like she is doing an excellent job taking care of my family and me!
I had been a patient of Dr. Gibson's since the day I was born. From birth until my last appointment with him, he had always gone beyond the call of duty to ensure I was well. It is with great disappointment to know that Dr. Modi has taken over the practice. She is dismissive, self-centred, and made no effort to usher my family and I into her care. There is a feeling of helplessness in not knowing who to trust or turn to in times of sickness.
Avoid her!! In a word, negligent. Will be filing a formal complaint with College of Physicians & Surgeons of BC. I corrected her wrong information, she refused to respond about a serious drug interaction, refuses time to hear your concern as she stands with one hand on the doorknob and the other holding her ever-present laptop etc etc. Now-retired Dr. Gibson would be horrified - she is the polar opposite of that caring doctor. Beware if you ever need her on a serious matter - you'll feel deserted at the very time you most need your GP.
I grew up with Dr. Gibson, and was told for Dr. Modi to take me as a client I would have to visit 3 times in one year. I am a healthy 35yr. old person who only visits when I am sick-I thought that was a bit odd. I did visit when I had a health concern, and was surprised that Dr. Modi did not ask any of my medical background, habits etc.... My experience was that she was very to the point of the matter, but leaving I did not feel that she was the GP for me. If you are looking for a GP who will spend the extra time with you, and who has strong soft skills it is my opinion she is not the GP for you. She did however, get me a referal and called for blood tests, so I do believe she dots her i's and crossed her t's. Personally I have decided to find a doctor who is willing to spend the time with me and to understand my full health spectrum.
