Dr. Berens is an excellent doctor and his professionalism is impeccable. This is also reflected in his staff. He is one of the most thorough doctor's you will encounter as he details everything ensuring that you are of utmost priority. On every visit, he spends a lot of time listening to your needs and addressing each and every one. He follows up and does not miss a beat. I am extremely happy with this doctor. It was faith when I walked into his office which I might add is very clean and aesthetically pleasant. -Shivana.
Please don't use this doctor! His lack of professionalism is insane, he takes extremely long to perform simple tasks and continues to discuss his personal products that are sold in his office. I was in his office for over 2 hours as he talked and acted unprofessional the entire time very unhappy about his services
I went to Dr Berens twice for Botox to address the lines that’d been slowly forming around my eyes. I hadn’t tried Botox or anything else previously. Visit #1: First impressions - the reception area was a little run down and the consultation room was decorated what I would expect an eccentric Jersey Shores boudoir to look like, not the clinical experience I was hoping for. However Dr Berens provided plenty of information about Botox, what would work for me...That coupled with his good bedside manner I felt comfortable, so went ahead with roughly 28units of Botox around my crows-feet area. They numbed the area first with a cream and ice to minimise any pain, both he and his assistant were very kind. To minimise the number of times he injected me he used a longer needle and wiggled it under my skin to get to the right areas. IT HURT! At the time they had an offer on for Botox, so the cost was around $350. Visit #2: A different story. This time Dr Berens seemed very rushed and disinterested. He suggested that since I handled the 28units last time I should probably have a few more and upped it to 35units – all around my crows-feet area. I was a little reluctant, but figured he was the expert so went ahead. I asked him if it would be possible this time rather than wiggle the needle under my skin if he could inject multiple times instead. He told me flat out NO this was how it was done. He was in such a rush this time the cream and ice hadn’t numbed my face and I was left in pain and like I inconvenienced him. To top it off the bill (without discount and extra units this time) came to nearly $700. Whilst I was there I enquired about the hereditary lines on my forehead, he suggested 40units across my forehead as well as the same around my eyes! Thank goodness I asked first! I walked out of his office with some physical pain, plus feeling distraught about the whole ordeal and swore I would never go back. I now visit Water’s Edge clinic and see Dr Justin Platzer. Great doc who takes a minimal approach. He has prescribed me a Retina-A cream and I have a TOTAL of 23units across my crows-feet and frown lines. Great doc, always has time for me, no pain. To conclude Dr Berens wasn’t horrific, but I found he was chasing money with me and to suggest 80cc of Botox to a 28yr old with minimal lines is somewhat ridiculous.
Run, run, run as fast as you can... Dr Beren's and his practice is a complete joke. It all started when my husband made an appointment for a general physical at 8am, the receptionist did not arrive until 8:15 and advised him his appointment was at 9am, which was their first mistake because I was standing right next to him when he made the appointment for 8am, never the less he was not seen until after 10am and was there until 12 pm, therefore missing a half day of work, which we would of been fine if he had received a decent physical. Dr Beren's talked to my husband for a minute about his health, did not advise him on what tests were being completed and then proceeded to talk to him about hair plugs- my husband can grow hair, he chooses to shave his head. We were mailed the results of the blood work but will be taking the. to a different dr to explain to us because we received a $393.00 bill from the lab for the blood tests that Dr Beren's performed because they were not medically necessary. We attempted to call and speak to someone in billing for days regarding the tests that were performed and we were told that she was out of the office, after telling the receptionist that we were going to go on-line and give a bad review of the customer service Dr Beren's himself called my husband back. I seriously thought we were being pranked...Dr Beren's was screaming at my husband stating that we were cyber bullying him- a review is simply voicing our opinion and experience not cyber bullying, he stated that he is a dr and does not have time for this and it is not his problem what our insurance covers- which we have a great ppo plan. A week later we received the paper work that my husband signed stating that he would be responsible for what insurance does not cover and they highlighted his signature- we are not idiots- obviously they get their patients to sign this to seek no responsibility themselves- all we wanted was an explanation of why these tests were done, then we received another $45 bill for more tests that were completed for a total bill of $463 for an annual general physical. The staff at Dr Beren's is rude and unprofessional, Dr Berens performs unnecessary tests and he is obviously in the medical field for the money and cares nothing about his patients.
At first I thought he was extremely knowledgeable until he started acting the fool. Constantly having to go back to his office for this and for that. I felt as though he may be hard up for money and patients. As I sat waiting for him in his office, I looked around and noticed how dirty everything was. The bathroom was dirty...it's a Doctors office for goodness sake, shouldn't it at least be somewhat sterile??? As time went on, my gut wasn't feeling right about him. I think he blows allot of hot air and talks others down. Bad experience
going to Dr. Berens' office was the most horrible experience one could imagine. Be careful, because he will try to charge patients for services that are covered by your insurance company, he will make sure he bills and gets paid by your insurance company, and YOU!
