What a horrible experience. I was referred to Dr Mant by my GP for PEs. Dr Mant rushed through my history, didn't seem to have the time to go into my file. Seemed rushed. And, I'm sorry, but why on earth do I need to get naked for a physical exam with a hematologist? Dr Mant clearly should have retired many many moons ago. When I asked him how long I should be on blood thinners for, his reply was, 'it's your decision'. I'm sorry, but I'm not a doctor! Why on earth would that be my decision? Didn't seem to care about me whatsoever. Worst experience with a doctor, a specialist at that, in my entire life.

Dr. Mant seemed very short with me. Seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else. Had a very basic line of questioning and didn't seem to want to get to the root of the issue. Told me that I will most likely be on thinners the rest of my life. I wasn't impressed with him at all!

I saw Dr. Mant for Pulmonary Embolisms of unknown origin. While he did not offer any explanations on the cause he was polite, very thorough in examination and took the time to answer all my questions. In addition, he ordered more tests and promised to follow-up with my GP. I felt he was extremely knowledgeable and competent. Despite appearing close to retirement, he is obviously very up to date in his field and still cares about his patients. I was impressed.

I am a young man. I asked for a referral to Dr. Mant (hematology specialist) when my physician couldn't discover the cause of my clotting disorder. Dr. Mant seemed extremely short on time and not at all interested in delving into my file: he didn't call for any new tests or blood work. He was also short to the point of rudeness for most of our meeting, treating me like a machine that he could demand answers from while admonishing me to remain silent until the end of our visit. It became clear from his rather basic line of questioning that he was not familiar with my file at all. When I finally got the chance to ask what he thought was causing my condition his verbatim response was "who can say?" His only enlightening contribution came when he informed me that it would be safer for me to stay on my medication for the rest of my life instead of the previous suggestion of one year. I was unimpressed with his conduct and will seek a second, hopefully more thorough evaluation.
