Ratings for Dr. Ryan Funk
I will keep my story private but I have had the best experience with Dr. Funk and recommend him fully. The hardest part in my journey was realizing that I needed to change my diet, lifestyle and to focus on positive thinking and take control of my life.
For the past year, I have had the pleasure and privilege to work with Ryan. He is extremely professional, kind and highly knowledgeable in the field of fertility and its procedures and processes. Since I am an Olive patient, I found it really helpful when Ryan would guide me through my treatment and align acupuncture with my fertility treatment. Not only was Ryan providing support during our sessions, but always responded to my emails with hours when I had follow up questions. It is really difficult to find such professionalism in someone, but Ryan embodies it! I was treated with acupuncture and also had the staff attend to Olive during my embryo transfer. Ryan not only developed an acupuncture plan, but also a proper diet and lifestyle regime. This was the best investment I could make. I will definitely be going back! If you are fertility patient, I highly recommend you attended to Acubalance and seeing Ryan and his wonderful and caring team!!
I liked this clinic a lot and really appreciated the support from Ryan and his whole team whilst doing IVF at Olive. I appreciated the fact they come to the clinic to do a treatment before and after the transfer. Whilst I can't say I'm a big believer in the herbs that I was given and drank for over 6 months, I think the acupuncture treatments were solid and I do believe contributed to my IVF being successful. It's not cheap but it's a worthy investment considering the price and toll IVF takes on your body!
Acupuncture at this clinic did not work for me. I found my appointments repetitive and cyclical. Results for my IVF cycles while seeing Ryan at this clinic were the worst cycles I’ve ever had. Ryan would often get me mixed up with other clients and the acupuncture points used were nearly the same each appointment and superficial at best. I question whether or not he knows what he is doing and whether or not he has knowledge of the specific points rather than simply mass stimulating. If you have seen a Chinese acupuncturist you will feel the difference in acupuncture points and feeling of efficacy immediately. I encourage you to try it. The advice Ryan provided is helpful perhaps the first two visits, but remains basic and rudimentary thereafter. Main focus is on diet and stress reduction but no specific advice given on how to truly condition the body to balance hormones and optimize fertility. Often he would share beneficial information only when asked. You don’t need to spend $95+ an hour for 5 minutes of advice you can obtain by better informing yourself through reading books or research studies. All the other services are extremely expensive too, for example the IV drips and supplements that they push on you as well as the laser acupuncture which have very little studies to support. Since the laser acupuncture is a new tool and they are “testing “ the results, you would think they would offer this service initially at a reduced price or for free if you are already paying for regular treatment. If this clinic truly wanted to help couples conceive they would make their rates way more affordable since they recommend that you come twice plus a week. If the treatment is truly customized and specifically personalized to you, this amount of frequency is not necessary and can quickly add up to several more IVF cycles for couples receiving treatment. I strongly suggest that you ask your doctor for their opinion before investing. My perception is that the company is business and revenue driven (their Clinical Director preaches more than he practices) and often they would fit in 3+ other patients at the same time slots. With their recent move to a larger facility, they will accommodate even more patients in one time slot. No wonder our file was not top of mind! I see the ratings here are all top notch and I continue to ask myself if I am an isolated case that feels this way as I have not had the same experience as others have which has been extremely disappointing. They post testimonials of all of their successes. However with infertility becoming more common, they have a constantly growing client base so I really wonder about their true client success ratio.
I started seeing Dr.Funk about 6 weeks before I had scheduled my egg retrieval. I had a lot of anxiety about the whole process and procedure. I found Dr. Funk very experienced and knowledgeable about the process and provided me support and information above and beyond what I expected. Not only did he provide amazing acupuncture treatment he also Provided me guidance and suggestions on changes I could do and make that would increase the success of my results. I am so thankful and fortunate to have had Dr. Funk part of my health care team and would highly recommend him to anyone!
I've been seeing Ryan for a couple of years now, and I always find him extremely helpful. Not only does he target specific areas based on my issues, but he's also interested in what's happening in my life and how it may be affecting my body. I highly recommend Ryan to anyone seeking an acupuncturist.
I started seeing Ryan Funk leading up to our first IVF cycle. We had been trying for 5 years, did 3 rounds of IUI, tried every diet, vacations, and were unsuccessful. I really felt that if I was going to start this IVF journey I wanted to give myself the best prep treatment possible. Acubalance came highly recommended to me and the second I met Ryan I knew I was in great hands. I really appreciated Ryan's passion for helping us with infertility, and found him extremely knowledgable and always so kind! After about a month of doing Acupuncture, I decided to add the lazer treatment for the last month before our retrieval, for optimum results. We ended up with great egg and embryo results, and then pregnant with twins! I am currently 23weeks, ya! I also had zero morning sickness and I have to say, I know Ryan really helped with that as well. I am still seeing him throughout my pregnancy and plan to continue post babies. Thank you Ryan!
I recently saw Dr. Funk for a knee issue that could only be described as problematic. With just over two weeks from embarking on a trip where a lot of walking was expected, I reinjured my surgically-repaired knee. I couldn’t take more than a few steps at a time before having to stop due to an unbearable “grinding” pain. The injury had left me with a distinctive limp, unable to extend or put my full weight on the affected leg. So, having previously seen Dr. Funk for treatment of back spasms, I figured acupuncture could help, at least in part, to reduce the pain level. The result was downright surprising, and even, dare I say it, miraculous. Using a combination of acupuncture and laser treatment, my knee progressively worked itself back into shape. The treatment schedule (over multiple visits) was aggressive, and the recovery period did take time, but the knee definitely responded! I can now attest to being pain-free even after a 14-hour plane ride and a brisk walk through icy conditions to get to my hotel. Simply awesome. Thank you, Dr. Funk!
I've never met a doctor like Ryan Funk. I've been on and off with my fertility treatments the last 4 years. First at Olive and then at Grace. I went through some slumps and Dr. Funk was always so positive and encouraging. He would always follow-up with me over e-mail to see how I was doing. My last IVF cycle at Grace I had a really bad allergic reaction to my estrogen patches. He kept nudging me to tell my doctor to find alternatives even though no one seemed to think it was that big of a deal. I'm now 11 weeks pregnant thanks to his help and advice on the patches and the acupuncture. Everyone at the clinic is so genuinely nice and caring. Thank you Ryan Funk and team!
I saw Dr. Funk as part of my very first IVF cycle and would do it again in a heartbeat. I found the experience really helped me to relax and control my anxieties up to and beyond our embryo transfer. Our first round of IVF was a success and I feel the acupuncture helped enormously. I'm planning on returning for some more sessions as we get closer to the birth. Thank you, Ryan!
