Ratings for Dr. Raoul Pope
Probably the rudest professional I have ever met. He may be a very good surgeon but I never went beyond my first consultation to find out. I was referred by my GP for a review of my 20 year back problem and he talked down to me from the moment he called me in. He was very condescending even suggesting that the mere fact that I had managed to walk into his office suggested that my problem couldn't be that bad and that I was simply having a mid life crisis because I still wanted to do things that I could 20 years ago. I was completely shocked and made to feel that I wasn't worthy of his attention. I have significant lumbar bone degeneration and disc shrinkage but he didn't even bother to look at my scans before offering his assessment. Went back to my GP and asked for a referral to see someone else.
Pain is everything in your world when it is bad and how wonderful life is when that pain is gone. 2 years ago at age 59 years, Dr Pope did a lumbar laminectomy L4/L5 & S1. He also removed a synovial cyst. Unfortunately I required more surgery last week and had another large synovial cyst removed and a lumber discectomy. After both operations I was back at work on day 11. The other night (day 14) I woke with a smile on my face…. I had just turned over in bed pain free. I am very grateful to the dream team of Pope & Poon. My thanks to Denise, Linda, Dr Pope & Dr Poon. They really are a dream team and I am very grateful once again for their professionalism and dedication.
Constantly in pain so bad that you can't walk up or down stairs.?Then go to mr magic. This genius solved this with an operation and some good old rest. Off the pain killers in 24hours.Although initially afraid I strongly recommend dr Pope and the Mater and get your life back.
Dr Pope is a very caring and compassionate. It has been 6 months since my operation for L4/5 laminectomy, and the result is truly remarkable. Prior to my operation I could not walk without the aid of an assistant, now I am taking the dogs for a half hour walk every day. Thankyou Dr Pope and your team you have turned my life around.
Dr Pope went out his way to ensure that my surgery happened quickly after diagnosing my sciatic pain was due to spinal stenosis. I received wonderful, compassionate care and clear information about the procedure and expected outcome. Following my stay in hospital I returned to my own home and after 10 days I no longer need strong painkillers and my sciatic pain has gone. After my physiotherapy I can look forward to returning to playing table tennis. I can't believe how quickly my life has turned around after being in pain for so long. At 76 this result has been much better than I expected and I am very thankful to Dr Pope and his team.
From the moment I hobbled into Dr Popes office I was totally convinced he was the surgeon for me. It was my first ever surgery and I felt instantly at ease with his professionalism, knowledge and calm manner. I then counted the days till my surgery as my L4/L5 herniation had become so debilitating I couldn't walk long enough to leave the house as it really was the pain in my lower left leg which was horrendous. Being a 52 year old active female, I was in dire straights and to say desperate was an understatement after trying physio, osteo and an unsuccessful back injection over a four month period. The whole surgery process, including the excellent care at The Mater was truly amazing. From the moment I awoke from the operation, the excruciating pain I had been feeling for the previous four months had gone! Hallelujah.... I was home the next day, medications in toe but to honest, my recovery was incredible.... Friends just couldn't believe it especially the one that had the same thing done a few years earlier, was in hospital for five days after major surgery.... Minimally invasive was a dream come true! I am now four weeks on walking at least 2 kms or more each morning and afternoon, keeping up my core exercises, visiting a physio who is also amazed with my recovery. I sometimes forget I had surgery or had a bad back! I am smelling the roses again... Life is wonderful! A big thankyou Dr Pope and all your kind, dedicated team. Xxx
Dear Dr Pope, I'm truly grateful for all you had done. Every month there's improvement. I can now shower, dress myself and perform light duties, thanks to you. Even though I still have pain (which is controlled by a 10's machine) in my lower back, I feel happy that I can live a reasonably normal life. If in the future my lower back becomes unbearable, you'll be the only doctor I'd consult. May God Bless you abundantly. Sincerely thanking you, Carol Chapman
I would highly recommend Dr Raoul Pope. He provides impeccable service, and felt very at ease. I suffered from L4/L5 disc herniation for over 3 years, and it was Dr Pope, who guided me through the options offered. In the end due to the severity of the pain, I had a L4/L5 discectomy. A brilliant neurosurgeon, and because of him, today I am able to function normally and enjoy life to the fullest!
Dr Raoul Pope is an excellent surgeon and has the ability to listen to his patients and respond with positivity and gave me more than hope and that was in the knowing that my life was improving under his care. Neck and back pain can be very difficult to cope with and in my case my neck was falling apart and after the fusion I have made headway in the right direction. I have much to thank Dr Pope and his team of specialists for, as without their skills I would be bed ridden in agony. Dr Pope works hard to solve spinal problems and looks at the spine holistically in terms of mechanical functioning, clearing space for nerve healing and looking at the problem realistically by giving an estimate of recovery. I like the way Dr Popes treats his patients with an attitude of equality, respect and kindness. I would certainly feel comfortable in seeking help from Dr Pope if the need arises again. I highly rate this Doctor and it was worth travelling from Adelaide to obtain his help. Many Thanks.
Dr Raoul Pope and his team are friendly and compassionate. From the first consult to the last interactions I felt cared for and informed, everything was professional but personalised at the same time. Dry Pope was honest and knowledgeable, he gave me clear information which I could understand and when I left his offices I knew where I was at and what was happening next. I didn’t have to wonder, I left his office with the confidence I needed to stay mentally strong. Dr Pope gave me realistic information and options. He did not make unrealistic promises. This was my second procedure performed by Dr. Pope. I will probably require further procedures in the future and I am grateful that I know a surgeon I can trust. Dr. Pope clearly has the skill and brilliance of a top surgeon, my recovery and ability to function daily without debilitating pain is a testament to this but on top of this it was really nice to be treated by someone who is humble and compassionate towards you and your individual situation it kept me strong throughout the journey. I can’t rate Dr Pope highly enough he allowed me to save my job, my sanity, my life.
