The doctor's office charges insurance company $210 for Consultation, $527 for "Office Surgery" on my son's recent ankle injury, which he had gotton while traveling abroad. The doctor took an X-ray(charged separately) and briefly checked the wound, which took about 10-15 minutes, and told us the bone fracture was recovered. The big question is about the "office surgery" charge. My wife sat in with my son for the entire visit, and she saw what the doctor and his staff did. There was no any procedure or surgery conducted AT ALL. Aetna did not care, since they had paid it as usual. The billing department for the doctor insisted that the charge be valid. This service was a rip-off.
