Unfortunately, I believe the person who posted prior to me must have had an unusually negative experience, and a poor reaction to the sometimes difficult truth. Dr. Garelick is a phenomenal orthopedic surgeon. Three years ago, I tore all 3 of my hamstrings from the bone in my left hip. I was referred to him as "one of the only surgeons in Chicago who could do this repair well." Functionally, I could not have had better results. Less than one year after the hamstring reconstruction surgery, I was back to ALL sports - running, sprinting, jumping. I honestly feel as though the injury never happened - I even competed in an NCAA indoor track meet 2 weeks ago in the 200m dash, and beat college athletes more than 10 years younger than me. As a clinician (physical therapist), I recommend many patients to Dr. Garelick and have seen nothing but great results. - Eric Hughes, PT, DPT

When you see an orthopedic surgeon for a 2nd opinion, you don't expect him to take a set of x-rays, refuse to perform any further imaging or diagnostic testing, and then tell you he can't help you, he can't imagine what kind of doctor you could see who COULD help, that you'll probably just have to learn to live with the pain, and leave his office in tears with the card of a pain management doctor. This man is rude, arrogant, and cold.
